Bad run - try again later?

I wanted to do 6-8miles today but barely walk/ran 4.5. It was a strange and unusually tiring run where I was dizzy and my legs felt uncoordinated and weak. I think I may have been a bit dehydrated. Yesterday was the same.

So, my question is: if you were me would you rehydrate, eat something and retry the run in a couple of hours or leave it till tomorrow?

Re: Bad run - try again later?

  • Leave it 'til your next scheduled run. And yes, rehydrate!

I would rehydrate, eat and run your next scheduled run.  Trying to 6-8 on top of your 4.5 isn't going to do you any good.  Everyone has a bad run every once in a while.

  • Thanks. You both make sense. I just hate when I get 'runner's low' when usually 6-10miles feels fun and great. Sad
  • Rest, hydrate, eat, try again later.  Pushing yourself twice in a day is just going to make it worse if something's going on.
  • I don't think I ate enough yesterday. So I did go for an extra walk rather than a run and made the best stirfry, homemade ciabatta and hummus. Should be fit to trot tomorrow. Big Smile
