Re: Babies and bumps (to-be)

  • Ups: I had an appointment with my midwife on Monday which went great.  No u/s but we listened to the heartbeat going strong, which was a huge relief for me.  She also answered a number of questions I have.  I was expecting her to weigh me, but it was nice to find out that they don't track weight at all, and don't have any guidelines to follow - they just check to make sure mother and baby are healthy and progressing as they should.  I'm still watching what I eat and weight gain for my personal interest, but nice to know I'm not going to be chastised if I put on a lot.

Downs: I've been so busy recently that I haven't had time to do as much reading and research as I would have liked by this point, so I feel that I'm falling behind in the planning.  Nothing in particular comes to mind, but I do wish I had some more free time to dedicate to baby things.

  • ups: Jordan is almost finished with the school and he is so ready for summer break. I will admit I am to. I am anxious to do some fun things and hopefully get moved into our new house.

Preston is talking so much more than he was even 2 weeks ago.

downs: Preston has been sick this week and he has been very ill and he hasn't ate much at all. I am sure it has to do with him being sick but I want my baby back.

  • Raynes, I really hope the LO comes soon.  I keep hoping I'll come on and find an update that he is here!

I had my first OB appointment yesterday and I think I am going to like it there.  At ~34 weeks I felt so behind on the preparation for this baby and they really put me at ease.  I have a lot of things to do in the upcoming weeks to get ready, but they were so helpful in getting me the information I needed and scheduled me for weekly appointments up until my due date.  They were trying to translate my records from Germany so things were a bit confusing, but overall I think they have the information they needed and since I have had a relatively normal pregnancy, they didn't really have any concerns.  They are just going to continue to monitor my GD and the baby's size.

DH and I are going to do a hospital tour this weekend and we have started buying some of the essentials for the LO.

The big downs right now are that I feel huge and am really getting uncomfortable.  My feet are swelling and my belly is enormous.  I have had more than a couple comments about people thinking that I am going to go into labor any minute.

  • Madison will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.  Here is a picture from her session at 9 days old...

Ups - I think she is gaining weight appropriately on breast milk which is fantastic.  We have our pedi appointment tonight so I'll know her most current weight for sure.  I've minused my weight on the scale holding her but I don't think my scale is very accurate.

I think my hormones have started to level out a little bit and I'm feeling a bit better but it's still pretty hard.  I love her so much but I just feel so alone during the day and question almost every decision I make.  I've been trying to hard to get to know her so I haven't wanted much help but my ILs are fantastic and keep offering to come over during the day if I need a break and I know I need to start taking them up on that just so I can nap or do some dishes or something or go for a walk by myself.  I can't wait until the end of June when DH is done work for the summer so I have some help and so that he'll have less on his plate, too.  He comes home from work, makes us food and does some cleaning and then does his prep work for the next day.

Downs - This one is silly.  I keep having dreams that I get to go running.  Running has always been my me-time and stress relief and I really do miss it.  I know I need to wait another 3 weeks and hopefully it will be easy to get back into.

Gas - Madison had so much gas pain yesterday that she fussed and screamed hysterically for about 4 hours.  It's heartbreaking not being able to do anything.  At least it happened at night so DH could help (and see what i go through when he isn't here).  She seems to be feeling better today so I have my fingers crossed.

I just keep trying to remind myself that this is the most difficult phase and it will pass and then I'll want to come back to these days when she was small and cuddly.  I'm trying to enjoy it more.

  • Rx - glad to hear you are starting to feel better. The first few weeks/months are by far the hardest as you are now in a completely new lifestyle, and your life has been turned upside down.  You are doing great, and being the best mommy you can be, and that is all that matters. Def take some time for you...it is important.

Ups: Zach is starting to talk!!!!  He now has added the letter "A" to his vocabulary, and is saying night, and bye bye clearly.  It's very exciting.

Christian now says God Bless you when you sneeze.  We are now working on please since he already has thank you down.

I also captured them on video lastnight running around, purposely falling, and having a blast!  I am going to try and upload one to FB.  They are 2 crazy kids.

Downs: Just that they are sick.  It breaks my heart.

  • Ups: My friend gave me her Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor and a whole box of unopened sticks to go with it. She never used the monitor and lost the directions so I'm going to try to find them online or request one from the company. I'm excited to give it try.

Downs: CD1 on Monday followed by my 19 year old cousin posting a pic of her pee stick on FB squeeing about how she was going to be a mommy. She has since posted about 5x a day about being pregnant, what she's craving, names she's thinking of etc.

Thanks, I'm trying and I think it's improving slowly.

I can't believe you did this/are doing this with two!  I used to think twins would be awesome but I think I would have gone crazy if I had this times 2 right now.  I showed Mark the picture of you out grocery shopping with the boys and he was in awe.

Bailey - I'm sorry.  I really hope this happens for you soon.

I'm sorry about the cousin, that sucks.  I hope you get your BFP soon.  I used the CBEFM and loved it.  It totally took the guessing out of charting/OPKs and everything else.  I had great luck with it for both pregnancies.  Good luck and I hope it happens soon!

    Omg still here.  Blah.  haha.

41 weeks today and not much progress to report.  Chewy's down a bit, but no real dilation to report.

I go in for a BPP u/s and NST tomorrow at some point, then in at 5:30pm on Saturday for cervical ripening gel, and then induction Sunday morning.

Hopefully I won't need any of that because he'll just decide that tomorrow is an AWESOME day for a birthday.  So please, send me your vibes, labour dust, and general thoughts out into the universe that he comes tomorrow!

    Here's a pic I took this morning.

All things considered, it's mostly still ups.  The swelling is a bit silly, but nothing I can't handle.

Bailey, your cousin sucks.  Seriously.  I was bummed to see your CD1.  I really hope you get your BFP soon!

  • Raynes--FX tomorrow is the day!  Bailey--hugs!  Brangela--yay!  Glad things are going well back here!

Ups: lots of movement, getting back to a normal (though slow--blah walking) exercise routine.

Downs: feeling lots of stretching/RLP today, and not really pregnancy related, but it will likely take a toll...I have TONS of meetings scheduled over the next 6 weeks before summer--like many days where I am supposed to facilitate multiple meetings at the same time.  It is going to be an insane push to the end of the year.  And I still don't know next year's schedule, so I am having a hard time getting mat. leave stuff organized.  And we haven't started looking for my long term sub either, so that will be more meetings.  Ugh...can you tell work is stressing me out right now?
