Where do you get your eyeglasses/contacts?
DS broke my glasses so I need a new pair. Where do you go for regular eye exams and glasses? Our Walmart has an optician, but I'm not sure I trust Walmart with my eyes. We don't have a Lens Crafters or anything here, but I'm going to NY in a couple of weeks and could probably go there too.
Re: Where do you get your eyeglasses/contacts?
I changed my name
Unfortunately not. We have, quite literally, the smallest BX in the world. I did post on our spouses' FB page and someone recommended a local place. I'll check that out, but it's good to know that Walmart is a decent option too.
Thanks y'all.
::Pulls out optician soap box::
As an optician I would urge you to go to local eye doctor to support local small businesses.
As a human being with a budget, go to Walmart. Their glasses are fine. I refer patients there all the time that can't afford our prices. Keep in mind local eye doctors prices are what they are because they have to be able to keep afloat when their patients go to Walmart or Costco.
As an optician if your going to do the Anti-Glare there, buy their top of the line one. The other ones crack and chip over time.
I like the "supporting local businesses" aspect of it. I normally buy glasses every 5 or so years, so I don't mind getting a spend pair. I had to get glasses in Egypt because I lost mine and Tricare covered the opthamologist visit but I had to go to and optician to have the glasses made. Even in Egypt they cost me $400. Hopefully I can keep the next pair out of my child's hands and they'll last as long as my first pair did.
