Do you think men enjoy Erotic fiction?
I am wondering about Erotic writing. I know many women who prefer erotic writing to porn. They won't watch porn and don't enjoy it but they love the writing. It seems to me that if men are more visual they might not be as interested in erotic writing.
I was talking about this with a friend and we just couldn't decide. I lean towards thinking it's going to be a very case by case thing.
I am just looking for opinions. Do you think men on average would enjoy erotic writing? Do you think it's more of a case by case thing? Do you know men who enjoy it?
Re: Do you think men enjoy Erotic fiction?
My husband is a pretty "famous on the internet" erotic fiction writer.
I can't believe I just "outed" him
I'm a man and I enjoy reading erotic fiction, provided it has content that interests me. I do know many men who probably don't read it, but then, lots of men are not readers in the sense of regularly reading fiction titles cover to cover. Most of other men I know tend to only read newspapers and non-fiction books about particuilar interests such as cars or technical interests etc.
Interestingly, I also tend to prefer erotic writing (both fiction and factual) to commercial porn which I tend to find boring despite being very visual and having worked in two separat areas of visual/arts industries.
Thanks, it's nice to have a man's point of view.
You mean porn without pics?
I can only speak for myself, and IMO a picture is worth a thousand words.
As for men, I would not ask. I can't imagine having that discussion.
I'm a guy and I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read erotica!!! I don't read much so to say that I love to read it says a lot.
For me, it's almost like I'm there either watching the action or taking part in it. I get transformed into the stories. As far back as I can remember, I have loved reading them. I can remember finding a "Penthouse" magazine back when I was 10 or 11. I was looking through it and found the stories section. I read one about a woman that was seduced by a sales lady at a lingerie store. To this day, its still one of my favorite stories of erotica.
On the other hand, I do love porn too. However, I'm into lesbian and/or seductive porn more than straight MF sex. The standard stuff bores me. It has to be FF, FFM, MFM, or something besides straight MF sex. The erotica is the same way. If its straight MF sex, then it has to be seductive, playful, or a highly visual story.
I had two guy roommates in college. One roommate had a stack of Playboys sitting in his room. He told us to take look at them anytime we wanted. I had a stack of Playoys, Penthouses, and Penthouse Letters. Penthouse Letters is only erotica. I had bought every issue for a few years and kept them to reread some of the best stories. When I told them they were in there too, they didn't care. I think one roommate looked through one issue and didn't see many pics so he never picked up another one. So for them, they didn't like erotica.
I think its more of a case by case basis. Were as magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse offer visual stimulation and most guys will pic one up and look at them, the erotica takes effort to read.
The stories help me imagine the scenes depicted in them. But, I feel that I have an acute ability to picture what I read. Maybe those guys or girls that don't like erotica, can't picture what they are reading and it doesn't tun them on.
Maybe maybe not!!
I dated someone a while ago, and we made a deal. I would watch porn with him and he would read erotic fiction with me....Needless to say, it was great for our sex life, and left both of us happy.
Mommy loves you Eevee!

I'm an erotic fiction fan (just learned).
DH is an avid reader all both fiction and non-fiction - his face is always in a book. It has a calming effect on me when he reads, however he does enjoy the classic visual gratification of porn. Maybe he would like erotic fiction, but I have yet to see him read any.
