Supernatural, Season 5 Finale Question *Spoilers*

DH and I have been watching on Netflix Instant. We're about to finish season 6, but something from season 5 is still bugging me.

Is Chuck, the prophet, actually God?

DH thinks so because he vanished at the end, but I'm skeptical. Dean's amulet didn't glow/burn hot when they were in his presence like it was supposed to. If he's not God, where'd he go? I keep thinking it'll eventually be addressed, but, so far, nada.

What do you think?

Re: Supernatural, Season 5 Finale Question *Spoilers*

  • Ugh!!! We haven't seen Chuck since! I miss him terribly.

Everyone I have talked to seems to think that Chuck is God. I'm not so sure. I'm wondering if he was taken by the Angels for some reason.

  • Basically it was left open to interpretation. As far as the Supernatural universe is concerned in the following seasons God is still MIA. Though Chuck is also MIA so they could still be one and the same. The amulet is the one thing that made me skeptical as well.

Side note, the season 5 finale may be my favorite episode ever, I love that one.

    Except for the ending, ITA!

We finished season 6 last night. Hopefully we can find season 7 episodes online somewhere, and I just saw on TVline that it got renewed for an 8th season.

  • My understanding is that the writers originally intended for that to be the final episode of the series, but continued it because it was so popular. My rationalization for him being not God and also disappearing is that since he was a prophet and had finished the "Winchester Gospel", the angels ascended his body into heaven without the whole dying thing. His work was done, and I'm sure archangels had other stuff to do besides watch him for another 50+ years while he's no longer writing.
