I am bored so @ second kid question
What do I need? I just can't think of much that I can't recycle from my son. So far all I can think of is:
diaper pail
new tubing for breastpump
lanolin
pacifiers
buttstuff
diapers
washclothes
stroller (DS' broke)
Outside of clothes, I am not really worried about getting a girl version of everything. She won't know the difference, so I am really just trying to remember some of the necessities that are not typically passed down.
Re: I am bored so @ second kid question
Do you need more freezer bags for pumped milk?
NB sized nail files
Yes! Okay that also made me think I need to get the microwave bags to clean the parts afterwards. do most people get new shields as well?
Surprisingly I still have a newborn health and safety kit with nail files. I kept a lot, lol.
Since DS was still pretty young when DD came along, I bought some extra absorbent pads for the crib and such. I'd found other uses for them in the meantime and needed extras. I like to layer those to protect things like bouncy seats so I don't have to pull those off and wash them if there's a blow out.
This time around, I needed more baby socks. I have NO idea where they all went.
I also bought a snap n go b/c car seats are much bigger/heavier now. And, a rock n' play b/c I so wish they'd had those when DS was a cranky baby.
Ask to use a hospital pump to get colostrum when you're in the hospital having the baby. My hospital uses Medela pumps and I have a PISA at home - they sent me home with all the tubes, pump parts and containers because they can't be reused. I guess this only works if your pump also is by the same mfr.
We did stuff for the new nursery, bigger diaper bag, pacifiers, bottle parts for pumped milk, another set of swaddling blankets because DS1 still loves his, replacements for burp cloths and clothes that were gross, Moby and Ergo, new carseat strap covers and mirror to see baby when driving, hmmm...also when I go back to work we'll need new bottle and clothes labels. You might also need a new or 2nd receiver for your baby monitor if your first is still using it.

I did not get new shields/flanges. I just boiled the ones I had and bought new valves and tubes.
