Disney bus system

I'm staying OP for the first time in over 15 years and I am not too familiar with the bus system.

I am trying to decide if I want to upgrade our current 5 day ticket to a park hopper.  The only reason I am thinking no is because of the bus system.  I know it is pretty easy to get from Epcot to MK because of the monorail so that isn't the issue so much.  I am thinking that if I want to go from Epcot to AK, would I have to take a bus or monorail to CR or Poly and then get on another bus from there to AK?  Same with DHS?  Do buses run from park to park or just from hotel to park?

Re: Disney bus system

  • Just hotel to park.

But, you can take the boat from Epcot to the Swan and Dolphin and catch a bus to AK. I also think you can catch a boat to and from HS from one of the boardwalk area hotels as well, then catch a bus from there.

  • Thanks. That's what I thought.  Seems like a big waste of time to me.

  • You can take  buses from park to park. We did this last December and do it every time. It doesn't make any sense not to be able to do this.

  • Busses do not run between parks and they stopped running park busses to Downtown as well.  When we use the hopper, it is between MK and Epcot (like you said,) HS and Epcot (walk or boat,) or when we are back at a hotel for a meal or our hotel for a rest/swim anyway.  If youre planning full days in the parks it can be tough, annoying, and long to get park to park.

  • If you go to Disney's website and click on each  park, it will tell you how to get from one park to the other. And yes you can ale a bus from oak to pak ,but not from Downtown Disney to a park.

  • We've taken the bus park to park before....I know we did HS to AK....I don't remember if we did any others.  We stopped doing the park hopper though because we found we tried to cram too much into each day to try to get our money out of the park hopper.

  • alternatively if you went to your hotel to freshen up, nap, etc. mid afternoon before going to the next park, then it wouldn't be so inconvenient :)
  • From what I remember, you aren't able to take the buses from park to park.  However, the park hopper tickets definitely come in handy if you are going to the parks in the early morning and wanted to go back to the hotel in the afternoon to rest, shower, etc and then do something in the evening.  We would usually go to one park in the morning - go back and shower/rest - and then go to another park for dinner or fireworks.  This always worked best for us.  To go from park to park is time consuming but it can be done.

  • Thanks everyone.  I think I may just add a 6th day. We usually stay in the park all day and I made my ADRs based on what park we would be in on that day.
