That doesn't really surprise me their sizing is different than most stores. Unless they are calling that a US size 10.
  • The tag said US 10... (sizes started at US2)

  • Cute shirt... just cut the tag out lol.  Agree their sizing is very off though... the one shirt I bought from there was a size 2... I kept that tag in because I knew i'd never see that size in my closet again LOL

Not sure why they call it a US 2, but I know that their 2s are never equivalent to a 2 that you'll find in other stores. I have skirts a couple of skirts from there that are a size 4 and I am never bigger than a 0 in any other store (well sometimes french connection - some of their stuff is very small).

  • Thats why I don't shop at H&M! I just can't handle having to take in like 7 different sizes to try on.
  • I'm a 10 in real life and like a 16 at H and M

    This exactly.

  • I was looking at some skinny/colored jeans in there last week and grabbed a 2 and they were soooooo small.  I know I could not have even pulled them on even though I normally wear a 0 or 2.  I didn't bother with them because I didn't want to take the time to try to figure out the correct size.

  • H&M is weird. I could never order from then online (I know they don't offer it yet) because of their sizing.
  • I hate their sizing too... I wear an XS in their tops (when they are XS, S, etc instead of numbers) but whenever I try on a dress or anything, I end up needing at least an 8 or 10.
  • Bought a dress from them that never fit right. It was an 8 and it was HUGE on me. 8's are usually a little snug on me.

Also, some of their clothes look cheaper than Old Navy.

  • H&M sizes tend to be really off. I think they are a european brand so maybe that has something to do with it?

  • Hello ladies,

I am mostly a lurker here but just wanted to reply to this one: H&M is a swedish brand, and, as far as i've noticied the sizes are featured in european and uk sizeing. The european ones are 34,36,38...and the uk ones are 6,8,10... I've never seen us sizeing over here but maybe it's a feature available only for the us market.

Anyway,  an us size 2 is a 6 in uk and a 34-36 in europe, more or less...on their site their is a size chart. Also, if this piece of info might help you, h&m is known over here (europe) for their bigger sizeing, as is gap.

Hope to have helped a bit!

I was just venting about this, too!! I recently lost weight and ended up needing my old size (which were 4 sizes bigger!) in a pair of shorts! Talk about de-motivation! Their bottoms run so small. Oddly enough, I tried a bikini top on in a 36D which actually fit my 36ddd chest. WTH?! ::::2nd h&m vent over:::: ??

  • Yeah, their sizes are all over the map. I wear anything from a S to a L or a 6 to a 12.
  • Ditto to all of it! I'm usually a 2 or 4 in everything else pretty much everywhere, but the H&M stuff I have runs from 0-10 (or XS-L) in size. This includes dresses, tops, pants, etc, with little to no consistency among type of item (so I have dresses that are size 2 and dresses that are size 8).

The European sizing explanation would make sense if indeed the sizes were consistent, but they aren't.

  • I wonder if you measured it's width if it would match a girl's size 10 Wink

Ha, probably pretty close. I picked up the 2 first- looked too small. Picked up the 4- couldn't tell a difference from the 2.  This continued until I got to size 8- I could tell a *slight* difference in the size 8.
