DH and I have each been separately. I stayed a summer in Dijon and spent a weekend in Paris. I saw all the major highlights of Paris, so I'd like to see some more off-beat things this time around.
We'd also like to do a couple of day trips outside of Paris, maybe Normandy.
Re: If you've been to France
This! We also toured several small villiages in Normandy and Brittany. Those were my favorite days in France. Chantilly was nice. Saumur was a cute town. I loved Chartres and Orleans. Fountainbleau was pretty cool. I also really liked Epernay
I know you want the "off the beaten path" but there is nothing more amazing than the Effel Tower at night. One of my favorite experiences was making a picnic and having dinner at the tower, gah, so gorgeous. You just have to beware of the Souvnir salesmen who hound the place.
The night train was amazing too.
It is beautiful! I got some great photos the last time I was there. We are staying at DH's uncle's house a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower, so I know we'll have plenty of opportunity to see it!
Thanks for the suggestions everyone; keep them coming!
We went to the Eiffel Tour twice. Once during the day and once at night. We saw no less than 4 couples having sex in the open in the park each time. They were all on pic nic blankets with their food. I could not sit there and eat.
I remember seeing this too. As a 16 year-old, I was quite scandalized.
I was 17, lol.
I just spent the last 2 days in southern France and loved it. Had a fabulous meal on the side of a cliff in Eze, and spent yesterday wandering the market at Aix. So much exciting good produce. I was in heaven.
It's not a daytrip from Paris, though.
I spent a few weekends in the south when I was there last time. It's heavenly.
