I am drunk and I just came up with the abortion solution
Fetal transplants. Just implant the would-be abortion fetuses into women who want to get pregnant. Walla! Two happy women and no hypothetical people die.
Re: I am drunk and I just came up with the abortion solution
Lol at "would be abortion fetuses."
Unfortunately, no. Doesn't work, biologically, to take a fetus or embryo out and then put it back somewhere else. That's why a molar pregnancy can't be saved by putting it back in the right place.
I've thought about this. LOL. I've heard that if you have an etopic pregnancy they can move the pregnancy to the uterus. It should follow that taking it out and putting it into someone else could work? I don't know.
ETA. Dr. Google says apparently you can't do this even though I swore I heard about it, although maybe it was a t.v. show instead. Never mind!

My drunken idea a few years ago was uterus pods. Make a faux uterus in a pod, and then no one has to 9m pregnant, EVER! You just get pregnant and they put the fetus in the pod.
It seemed genius to me at the time since I was trying to decide whether having another kid was worth another 9m of enforced sobriety...
Had you recently read Brave New World as well?

lol, no! I've actually never read it. I think it was an option in high school for summer reading and I chose another option. I kind of hate dystopian lit, which is why I resisted reading The Hunger Games for so long...
But, IIRC, when I drunkenly swung my wineglass around talking about how genius I was, MH said it reminded him of Brave New World.
Ha! Know what's wrong with that? Ok, I'll tell ya.
Say the women do that, an all goes well. Then a couple of years down the road, the woman that GAVE the fetus, decides, for whatever reason, that she wants her baby back. Who wants to deal with that? Cause in all likelihood, she'll get the baby back.
Thats why people don't adopt children in the U.S. They go to Korea, or Russia or somewhere the laws aren't so stupid.
Wow, you're some kind of ignorant about adoption. Shocker to me that people don't adopt in the US. You know, since there are at least two posters on this board who've adopted in the US and all. With those stupid laws.
The rest of that I think everyone else has already covered, but I've sadly realized I need more wine.
You know this would already be the case if men had to carry pregnancies.
I haven't been drunk in over a year. The thought of pumping and dumping for every drink beyond the first is awful. Eff that.
/Can't wait for one year!
It wouldnt work because the people that dont want you to have an abortion rarely seem that keen on taking responsibility for other peoples children once they are born. I cant see them lining up to get fetuses somehow lol.
Simply put - if every anti abortion protester really wanted to "save children" why are there any kids left for adoption? IMO They don't want to save children - they want YOU to save children.
That way, what's "right" gets done, but they dont have to do any of the work, except the "shouting at the sinners" bit, which they like because it reinforces their moral superiority and makes them feel all gooey on the inside without any real effort or commitment to the kids they are so very concerned about!
Because caring for the child for the next 18 years plus is your responsibility, you see? Whereas whether you have an abortion or not, thats not your responsibility. Thats theirs.
Actually, if I weren't so old, I would most definitely consider this if science could make it happen. I suspect that this would be allowed under my Church's teachings.
I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the child was already conceived that way. The only difference is I would be adopting the child at a different stage in its life.

Well, you are one of the exceptions - which is why I admire you even when I don't agree with you. I was thinking about it today, and if I was the praying miracle believing type, I would pray for a miracle for you. As it is, I will just hope science or circumstances comes to help.
Reeve...this is probably the nicest thing you have ever said to me and I am so touched...really. However, I didn't mean to make anyone feel badly for my situation. I am more accepting of it now than ever before. And even so, I also know that with God nothing is impossible so I remain open to that miracle you speak of. ;-)
