GAP jeans- ripping/thinning

Is it just me or are GAP jeans turning to garbage? In the last 2 weeks I've had 2 pair (skinnies and curvy) both rip/turn thin at the crotch. Neither are wearable any more and both were bought in 2012. Anyone else? Should I try I return them? I'm frustrated- I love them but maybe theyre crap now.

Re: GAP jeans- ripping/thinning

  • I bought my skinnies last year, but I haven't had that problem and I wear them ALL the time. Maybe they changed them (again?) I would see if you can return them. That's frustrating, because they were my favorite jeans!

  • I ripped a pair of GAP skinnies at the crotch earlier this winter.  :(

I just tossed them in the trash because I couldn't find time to get to the mall.  I think it's worth a shot to see if they'd return/exchange them, though.

  • Lurker coming out here...

I stopped buying GAP for this reason.  I have a several pairs that thinned at on the butt.  Once I was actually out in public and it ripped!  The other one came out of the washing machine ripped.  My third pair I stopped wearing because I know what is going to happen and I don't want it to be while I'm out in public, again.  Each pair did not last more than a year.

  • Gap will take any pair of defective jeans back! I bought two pairs of Long & Lean Jeans a few years ago and every 3-6 months they rip in the crotch. When that happens I take them back to the store (with the receipt if I have it) and they exchange them, no questions asked. I have not bought a new pair in 2 years as I just keep exchanging the ripped ones. If the store gives you a problem, just call customer service and they make a claim and you can go back to the store with the claim and they will take care of it. My last pair just ripped in public....I was mortified!!!! If you feel more comfortable you can always call gap first, tell them how embarrassing it was and they may even send you a coupon for a free pair of jeans!

This exactly. I have one pair that I rarely wear now because the other ones I had ripped in the crotch. I'd rather buy better quality elsewhere than having to go back every few months to get a new pair.
