Going into work anxiety...?

Once I'm at work I'm totally fine...i actually love my job except for the moments when I have to deal with certain people who get on my nerves, nothing major. However, every single day before I'm to go into work I have this anxiety..I don't want to go to work...this sucks....wish I could stay home...ugh!

Once I get there I'm all gung-ho and ready to go and actually enjoy being there. Anyone else feel this way?

nuts, I know..

  • I used to get that feeling at a different office I worked at. Once I got there I felt a little bit better but I think it's actually quite common. You aren't alone for sure Smile

Oh my goodness, yes! If I have say sat and sun off, Sunday night is ruined because I'm stressing about having to go to work Monday. So it's like I get a day and half off instead of 2.

I often wonder how many people feel this, because I am the same exact way...word for word. And the Sunday thing, ugh, I feel ya. I always tell my husband I have the "Sunday blues" because from about 4PM I feel like...damn, another work week starts tomorrow!

It's certainly nothing that is physically or mentally debilitating, but it is a certain anxiety I feel. I was always afraid to post about it because I expected people to be all "You sound depressed, get on some meds" or something. It's a bizarre feeling, but no, you are not alone! And often when I leave work I think "There, another day down, that was fine, why do I get worked up about it?"

Definitely.  One of the things that helps me with this is to not blame myself for not getting things done, or not addressing things on my days off.  My days off are my days off, and I refuse to feel guilty about trying to separate my personal and professional lives.

Another thing that helps is every evening, before I leave, I write a list of what needs to get done the next day and prioritize them.  This relieves me of the anxiety in the AM of trying to remember what needs to be done.  I already know my list is there and I'll tackle it when I get in.  Good luck!

great tip!  i agree, making to-do lists helps to relieve some of my work-related stress!

  • Yes, I get this every day. And Sunday nights are the worst. Sometimes, any random night the week, just knowing I have to work the next morning actually keeps me awake.
  • I get the same way.  I recently started a new job about a month ago and am still not comfortable so the anxiety for me everyday is so bad.   The difference is, it doesn't go away when i get there.  Sometimes it actually gets worse.

OMG! This is me to a tee. I have been dealing with "going to go to work" anxiety a lot more lately, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I feel like my "career" has stalled and I am not challenged anymore. Nor respected.
