extremely dry skin on face
Any lotion or skin care recs for extremely dry skin on face? Technically I have combo skin, b/c I am prone to breaking out on occasion. I drink a ton of water too.
I currently use clarisonic once a day and a botanical toner for dry skin and lierac mesolift cream. I have even tried coconut oil with no luck. I am okay if I don't wear a foundation (I switch off between armani lum. silk and smashbox bb) but when I wear a foundation I seem to dry out and you can see some visible flakes. I like the coverage of the bb or foundation since my skin looks a little blotchy without and it gives me a more finished look.
Re: extremely dry skin on face
I have the same issue with combination skin and very dry cheeks, although my dry cheeks have actually cleared up with my current skincare routine. I use CeraVe hydrating face wash, and it helps a lot. I'm using the Clarisonic now, but was using an extra gentle buff puff before, but I would think that continuing to use the Clarisonic along with CeraVe would help. I definitely would skip the toner, or just use it in your t-zone . I would then use a good, basic moisturizer like Cetaphil - at least on your cheeks. I use very liberally on my cheeks at night.
If these things don't help, I would try an enzyme exfoliator. The enzymes literally dissolve the dry pieces of skin instead of sloughing them off with abrasion. I really love this stuff: http://www.shearartistrydayspa.com/lily_exfoliator.htm
Before ditching your toner, try putting it in a spray bottle instead of dabbing/wiping it on, and then allow it to just soak in/air dry.
I've also found that using a richer cream at night helps keep my skin moisturized throughout the following day. Right now I'm finishing up a sample of Benefit's Total Moisture Facial Cream ( http://www.sephora.com/total-moisture-facial-cream-P283508?skuId=1318336) and I like it. I usually use Clarins Multi-Active Night Youth Recovery Cream for Normal to Dry Skin (http://www.sephora.com/multi-active-night-youth-recovery-comfort-cream-for-normal-to-dry-skin-P264423?skuId=1238963)
You could also try just using the Clarisonic a few times a week. Using it daily might be drying out your skin.
Rub a dab of vitamin E oil on your face after your shower.
