WWHFD: another sick post-race tomorrow

I got sick last night with my kids stomach virus.  I threw up a lot, and have been stuck in bed all day.  The throwing up is done and I have kept down some water and like 4 pretzels, but my body feels like it was run over by a truck!  Right now my stomach feels okay, but my legs are so sore and I am exhausted!  Stomach viruses tend to last like 24ish hours, so I am supposing that I should feel better-ish by tomorrow.  Should I race tomorrow?  Am I crazy to even consider it?  It's a 10k if that matters.  Also, I would sort of need to decide soon, so I can send my DH to the expo to pick up my race packet....if he even can.

  • Seriously, reading that post over makes me realize maybe I am just not up for it!  I just would hate to wake up tomorrow around 7 (start time) and feel great!

He can pick it up, so have him do it. That way you've got it if you wake up feeling better. It's a sweet shirt. :)

  • I'm still debating on whether to race tomorrow as well, I have a head cold.  Stomach bugs are tricky, I think it depends on whether or not you are able to eat enough today.  Doesn't hurt to go ahead and get the race packet.  I picked mine up, I already paid so I might as well get the t-shirt.  Plus, if you do wake up feeling better you'll be glad you have it!
  • I sent DH for it.  I decided to switch to the 5k.  I am bummed because I have done a bunch of 5k's (and know there is no way I should shoot for a PR here) but at least I have the packet and got the shirt. I dunno, for some reason, totally blowing my 10k would be worse to me than just running another 5k.  I've been looking forward to trying the new distance.  There's always the Bolder Boulder!

  • A head cold...eh, I might race if I feel up to it. A stomach/gastro bug that has me vomiting, and I'd stay in bed.
