Dumb question about patent shoes

I've always considered patent a dressier material.  However, I've noticed over the last couple of years that a lot of more casual shoes have patent leather.  Can these be worn with items as casual as denim capris?  Here is a pair I'm eyeing.

Re: Dumb question about patent shoes

  • I think the hemp/straw(?) wedge definitely makes these casual. But for some reason I don't like the idea of patent in the summer. But I'm sure I'm in the minority here. Also I have been hating on patent for like a year now becuase every time I find a shoe I like it is patent when I wuld rather it just be leather.

Yeah, I'm kind of with you on this.  I'm trying to find a pair of casual nude wedges, and soooo many are patent.  I would definitely prefer regular leather.

  • Most anything can be dressed up or down.

    I love those shoes!

Thanks!  I just ordered them on Hautelook.  I love the style and needed a pair of nude shoes.  I plan to wear them with summer dresses and also more casual outfits.

  • I think I would like these more for really casual outfits (like denim capris) if they were more traditional sandals. I think that this style says business casual. A nude sandal with a hemp or cork wedge would be more weekend casual. Having said that, I think you can wear patent with dressy and casual outfits.
