Name your favorite steak house in NYC
Not over the top expensive, but nice.

L'isle Sur la Sorgue, Provence
Re: Name your favorite steak house in NYC
definitely a splurge but one of the best steaks i've had in my life: the strip house on 12th street
landmarc is less expensive but also very good (i've only been to the tribeca location, there's one in columbus circle)
Pretty much all of the good, proper steakhouses cost the same. And they're all over-the-top expensive (I'd expect to pay $45 for the steak, $10 for sides, etc.)
I don't eat steak, but I go to steakhouses with lots of people who do
The usual top recommendations are Peter Luger's (if you can get in) or Keen's. Next would be the likes of Wolfgang's, Striphouse, Sparks, BLT Prime, Del Frisco's. You can't go wrong at any of them. Or if you're planning WAY ahead and can fight for a reservation, Minetta Tavern isn't a steakhouse but is known to have one of the very best steaks in the city (and is a really cool experience)
If you want something more reasonable, something along the lines of Landmarc is a good idea.
agree with both of these recommendations. landmarc is actually one of my favorite places to eat ... the wine list is known for the low mark up. i've been to both locations, tribeca is smaller ... but the quality is great in both places.
went to the strip house for a special occasion. the vibe is very cool, and the meal fantastic.
