Strange Q - one week driving/camping trip in Europe
What would you do?
We live in the UK and are thinking about taking the ferry over to Europe for a week to do a driving trip and a bit of camping with our 2 year olds this summer.
Thoughts? Is this do-able? Where would you start? What would you see? The big cities aren't a priority i.e: if we went to France we wouldn't bother going to Paris, we'll do that as a separate trip, same with Berlin, etc.
Thoughts? Anyone camped and driven through bits of Europe before?
Chronically hilarious - you'll split your stitches!

I think xnick does this crap with her family. I'm pretty sure she does. You should ask her. If you did want somewhere to drive around, I would highly highly highly recommend Austria in the summer. It is f'ing beautiful and amazing drives. Steep roads but plenty of room for P to manuever around.
Also, if you need a break from living in a bus, you could stop at a kinderhotel. We stayed at this one and it was awesome.

We didn't camp but we did fly into Munich and rent a car. We spent 3 days in Munich, then out of Munich stopping at Eagle's Nest, onto Salzburg for 3 days, then to the Kinder Hotel for 4 days (that was super relaxing - we just kind of hung out, went hiking, spent time playing at the hotel, swimming, etc), drove up to Fussen and spent 2 days there doing the castles then back to Munich to fly home. It sounds like a lot but really wasn't.
That area of Austria was gorgeous. The views and the air were so relaxing.
I didn't see the part where you said drive over. That would be a 14 hour drive to Salzburg. There and back would take like 3 days by itself right? I'm not sure if you're interested in that.
Yeah. They love camping and hiking over there. A number of people we talked to would set up their campers for the summer and go there on the weekends. It's pretty in Switzerland but expensive. I would go for France if your on a budget. Plus closer for you.
Alternatively if you live in a bigger city in Switzerland these are highly popular. They spend all day gardening and then sit outside their little shack and drink wine and beer for hours with friends. Then take the tram/bus home to their tiny apartments.

we saw these while we were in Berne and thought they were awesome :-)
B!tch you crazy! I say that with love.
Once H and I took the ferry to France when I had to leave the UK and re enter for a visa. We went Brittany- St. Malo and Dinan. So pretty. You get a cabin with beds on the ferry which is over night on the way over and during the day on the way back. I think that area would be nice.
Note we didn't camp, but I would think you could.
This is the area in which my employer grew up.
Are you taking the nanny?

At our old apartment's tram stop there was a whole section of them. When my mom came to visit she couldn't believe what they were for. The ones a little further from us even had sheep and goats! haha
