So, a comment my DH always makes to me got me thinking if any of you have this type of thing.
So I guess it is a type of poll.
What is one item that your DH says that he is going to throw away one of these days that you own? You know, something that you just can NOT part with.
Me: I have an OLD College of St. Joe's soccer sweatshirt that is full of holes, and pretty much in the rag state. However I still wear it on evenings when I just need another layer of something to keep me warm. He hates it, and when I had it on the other night he again mentioned how he was going to steal it and burn it one of these days. It's not like I would ever wear it in public, it's for around the house only. I can't bring myself to get rid of it. It has WAY to many memories, and I love it, holes and all.
Re: What's one thing..
DH has always been a big hunter and he has a good many hunting things that are old and he hasn't used in forever. He even has the shells from the first deer he killed. I know crazy. He always says he is going to get rid of it but I know he won't.
I own a pair of these:
If you can't see them, they're a somewhat ugly pair of plaid maize and blue (U of M) fleece pajama pants. I got them for Christmas a couple of years back, and they're a lifesaver when the heat's on the fritz in the winter. I got them about a size too big, so they hang on me. But they're so warm and comfy, perfect to curl up in on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Josh hates them, especially when I pair them with my Target sleepshirts (or potato sacks, as he calls them). I look very dumpy in them, but hey, all's fair when you're trying to keep warm!
(I should really get some Soma sleepwear; we were just talking about it at work!)
There are two main things:
1) A seriously ratty t-shirt from when the Bulls won their first World Championship (I think it was in 1992). It is so worn in and comfy. Not only does it have holes in it, but is starting to be see through. It must have been huge on me as a kid because it still fits. I love to wear it around the house and sleep in it.
2) Purses. I have WAY too many of them, and I love them, but am in serious need of organization help. I tend to leave them on the kitchen table and then switch to another bag. It's not uncommon for there to be multiple bags on the table. B keeps threatening to toss them if there is more than one on the table, but thus far, he never has.
I have lots of stuff that should probably go away. I'm getting better about it. I do have a hidden collection of old t-shirts going all the way back to when I was in 5th grade. One is a shirt that has COOL written on it in plaid. I haven't worn it in over 15 years but I can't part with it.
Dh has a wire/ plane thing. He will keep tons of wires and stash them in drawers and boxes. One day we will "need" them.
B has one of these too! We have more wires and cords to things that we no longer own.
My H also hates clutter, and he tried to throw out so much stuff when we moved - we comprised and brought a lot of stuff back to the US for storage. But he does want to get rid of most of my purses, and probably half of my shoes. As well as a number of little trinkets I have from my early travel days.

Yes, yes you should!
