My friend's dance studio had its grand opening this weekend, so I was really busy with events for that! Got all my laundry done (no small feat, mind you) Saturday afternoon. Made a cake for BF's neighbor's 84th birthday and brought it when we had brunch at their house on Sunday morning. Did a bunch of cooking and some relaxing on Sunday afternoon. Dance class Sunday night.
How was your weekend?
Re: How was your weekend?
Sounds like a great weekend, UDScooby!
My weekend was good as well. BF was away at the military. Friday night I relaxed and stayed in. Saturday I went to the outdoor market then my brother put new brakes on my car. Cleaned up the house a bit and then went to go see my friend's band play.
Sunday BF's mother came over to help me garden. I hate gardening but it looks so much better. Then I made dinner. Chicken with smoked mozzarella risotto--YUM! And I made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter cream cheese frosting from scratch--double YUM!
ETA: Oh! I also got approved to be a foster home for a local pit bull rescue!!

dmarie....whatever happened to the bf choosing to deploy (memory is fuzzy, but I think that was the concern)?
Mine was pretty quiet. Had a kid-free night with my friend Friday and just bummed around local shops drinking coffee. Saturday DD was being a pre-teen and causing drama so I spent most of the day ruining her life
. Oh, also went to my DS's soccer game.
Yesterday I did a 2 mile fun run and did okay considering I haven't really been running a ton lately.
My weekend was fantastic!! On Friday D and I went to The Oaks at Churchill Downs... We had a box and bet on horses all day and I got to wear a fabulous hat!
Saturday we did Derby, so there was another fabulous hat involved. We only had paddock tickets, but D grabbed my hand and we walked right into the grandstand past security. Everyone was standing on their chairs in the boxes, so I couldn't see a thing. He asked a couple if I could stand on one of their chairs and they invited us both into their box. Once I stood on the chair , I saw that we were right on the finish line!!! It was incredible!!! We both lost but what a great experience!!
That night we drove back to my place (1.5 hours away) because I ran the Flying Pig half-marathon Sunday morning. I told D he didn't have to go, but he said he wanted to cheer me on
He's pretty incredible.
First, I had to LOL at your comment about DD!
Uh, it is still kind of on the table. He is being recruited for a special unit which would require 4 months training but it would be at the base which is 1.5 hours away. Which means he could come home on the weekends. Then he would get deployments that would be only a few days long. We are still talking about it but he is not rushing into anything which I am happy about.

Taking away a 12 year old's cell phone and ipod = the meanest mom ever!!!
I'm glad you guys are at least trying to figure it out!!

Mine was really boring but productive. Had an early Cinco de Mayo dinner with friends Friday night. Saturday I cleaned out my bedroom closet and my dresser, you have no idea what a production that is! Got rid of 4 huge trash bags of clothes/shoes/bags and cleaned the rest of my place.
I declined all theCinco de Mayo/Derby fun since I had 11 miles to run yesterday, which I got done.
Only drawback to all that cleaning was coming across all kinds of little memory artifacts from stuff with my ex. I boxed it all up and put it away but it definitely reopened the wounds a little.
I need to do this in a major way! Next time I move, I'm throwing out half my sh!t. I'll probably spend some time cleaning out my crap that's at my parents' house this coming weekend (I still have a closet full of clothes and shoes there!).
I'm sorry your weekend was so lousy, LoB.
This! Sorry, LoB! Hopefully things will look up in your 30s!

As usual, the weekend went by too fast. Friday's Single de Mayo event was "okay". The age range was very huge and mostly the men were significantly older. I had a good bonding time with my friend on the other hand.
Saturday was spent mostly at home and that is a very hard feat to do when you have a 19 month old. The gardeners came by to install grass and fix the existing underwater ground sprinklers. They took all day. I managed to get my son to the children?s museum for the last hour and half it was open and the park right after the museum.
Sunday is church as usual and then softball practice from 12:30pm to 3pm. Our first game is tonight. I play first base. It is going to be interesting.
There's really something to be said for having my closet nice and orderly! Before I was unable to close the doors, fit anything onto the hanging rod or find pretty much anything in there. It was literally spilling out and giving me anxiety. Now I just have to KEEP it that way!
YUM!! I made a three cheese bacon cheese risotto last night and it was delish! Here's the recipe:
Friday night swimming lessons with the ds.
Saturday we had his t-ball game and then did brunch with my parents. DS was staying the night at their house because I had a big event for work and had to work from 2 pm until 1 am. It was a great event ... very glamorous. The art school I work for holds the largest and oldest fashion show in Los Angeles with all student work as a fundraiser each May. It's a big deal. Since I work with our donors I actually had a seat at a donor table that was right next to the stage (I could literally touch the runway from my seat). It was very cool.
Sunday bf and I met my parents and ds for lunch and then we did our weekly grocery shopping. Then we decided we needed "quiet time" which is my sub for nap time now that ds is older. We all laid on the couch and watched a movie. Then I took ds to check out the new play structure at a park by our house that he was asking about, got frozen yogurt for a snack and met up with his friend from preschool who will be at the school ds is transferring to next year. I found out last week the district is not renewing his permit and he has to switch schools, so the other boy's mom and I are going to do regular play dates with ds, his preschool friend and some other kids from that new school that they know to ease ds' transition. I love having mommy friends who look out for us!

It was great! Went to HH with friends on Friday then hung out with the guy I've been seeing...I stayed over and we went to breakfast and the Farmers Market in the AM (swoon...my favorite kind of morning). Things are good but moving slowly with him...he's hard to read (like, I think he likes me but then I wonder if he's putting me in the friend box?) , so I'm taking it one date at a time and enjoying it in the meantime. I'm still waiting for the red flags to fly...but so far, nothing really! And dear Lord, the man is a fabulous kisser and cuddler. I'm long overdue for some cuddling.
I had a friends birthday Saturday night and spent all day yestserday outside...went for a run on the waterfront, rode my bike, gardened, grilled...it was a perfect kind of day. And I'm super sunburned as a result!
I got a lot of great deals this weekend at my community garage sale! I was able to buy an amazing play kitchen for DD and I got a practically new jogging stroller
My BFF threw a cinco de Mayo/Birthday party for me (I am 28 today
)
All in all it was nice!
Happy happy birthday!!!
Happy Birthday!!!!
