This complaint is just for you. No puppies or rainbows tonight.
Our renters dropped off some mail they've been holding for us. We've changed our address with USPS many times, as well as any direct billers we have issues with. Why they continue to send mail to that address is beyond me.
Anyway, they dropped it off to my husband today. They've been collecting a stack of mail since November, including a now-delinquent property tax bill and 1098 tax docs. Am I the only one that thinks it's crazy to just hold on to envelopes that say "Important Tax Docs Inside - Open Immediately"? Thaaaaaanks for that one guys.
I can't believe I had to tell them - if you get a letter for us and it says something urgent like that on the outside, please do not just hold on to it for 6 months. That's just nuts. We will happily come pick it up within a few days.
Re: Landlord Vent - TarHeels, come in :-)
Do you have a mail forwarding for your mail?
Yes, of course. I've resubmitted several times to the post office. That's half the battle here.
But I still can't imagine holding onto someone else's mail for 6 months before mentioning it.
Gee, Tenants, thank you so much. I can't believe they just held onto that. I even give junk mail to my neighbors if it's delivered to me by mistake, much less tax docs.
Sorry for the late response - finals week is finally over for me.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Definitely call the local post office that serves your rental and complain. Also, forwarding requests do expire so make sure you are current.
Maybe you can print some labels that say 'Please forward to 123 Main St, Anytown' and give them to your tenant. Ask them to put them on any mail right away.
I feel your frustration, sorry for the headaches.
Good luck
