It's about my Kindle. Which I love. But you know what I don't love?
Self-published crap. Specifically, the reams of it that show up on my Kindle. I don't want to read self-published crap full of typos and grammatical errors, and sometimes I can't tell by looking at it if it's going to suck out my soul or not. So I pay like $2 and then I realize within the first paragraph that this was clearly written by some bored f*cking housewife who was rejected sixty times and then decided to self-publish and make all her friends write five-star reviews.
Self-publishing is going to drive me to stop reading; or at the very least, drive me straight back to the bookstore. Where I am at least assured that someone has used spell-check before sending the manuscript off to the printer.
Re: I have a vent.
The list of smutty Twilight fan fic on P&CE is making my head spin!
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I've been choosing some of my kindle books by what amazon recommends based upon my prior purchases but I can totally see how self published nonsense could show up.
I wish it was more like Pandora so you could thumbs up or thumbs down something that was recommended to you.
i have a vent about people who say they will proof read your PMs and forget!!
LOL!!
I hate that too!
I noticed that a lot of the free books, or the cheaper ones ($2 or less) are like that. Riddled with typos and poor grammar.
OH SH!T! I'm so sorry!
Updated September 2012.
it's seriously no biggie. we had our meeting today and it went perfectly. i feel like a million ton weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
I did this too, at first, then realized I could download a sample of the first chapter of most Kindle books, self-published or not.
Has helped tons.
I've been doing this too and it's been pretty awesome in finding something I will enjoy.
My Blog
Ok - note to self............
Post any/all potential submissions for publication here first, before I submit them to amazon.com
I haven't bought a Kindle yet but it seems like I'm going to have to make the jump. All of the book stores around here are going out of business. There is one bib bookstore left.
It's like the You've Got Mail movie.
