Thank goodness for good "mommy" (or "daddy") friends!!

I don't remember if I posted about this, but I found out last week that our school district isn't letting my ds stay at his current school next year since we moved. We are now 6 blocks into the next neighborhood (same district) and since both schools involved are impacted, we have to go to the one assigned to our neighborhood. It is the top rated school in the district, so this isn't a bad thing ... it's just a big change.

So I have been telling my mommy friends who have kids my ds' age already at this new school about the change and so many have already reached out to us setting up playdates and times to meet up at the new school so ds will be super familiar with the school and know more people there before he starts in the fall.

My ex has done nothing to help facilitate the change -- except whine that we have to do it after "we" (which should be ME) were so involved in the old school. It's times like these when I am so grateful for those mommy friends.

Someone posted earlier about "how do we do it" ... it's things like this that remind me why, even when I am tired or burnt out, I keep at it. Eventually it pays off!

  • Ok, this may sound like a weird question, and sorry that I don't know your background...I still feel semi-new on this board:

But any suggestions on making "mommy" friends?

DD is really young and not in daycare. We do go to church and I have one friend there - we need to hang out more on our own, but her DD is pretty little still - we met through my mom but she and her husband are my age, her DD would be in the same year as DD. Other than that - locally, I don't have many. Thinking about joining Gymboree too since no social day care yet.

  • Cemacmil - Assuming your location is correct in your stats, check this out. It's free. I would do this before joining an expensive class. www.indymommies.com
She's crafty - and she's just my type.
