XP: Welliver Wedding Videography

Hi Ladies,

I'm a knottie but I figured I'd ask you guys if you have any info on Welliver for videography? Anyone use them? Any reviews? TIA

Re: XP: Welliver Wedding Videography

  • Lots of people have been mixed on them regarding personalities--I had no problems with Cheryl but Billy seemed a little standoffish to me (but he didn't shoot my wedding, so no big).  I probably would have gone elsewhere if I hadn't had a gift certificate to apply to my package, but servicewise I couldn't be happier.  As long as you tell them what you want for your video they will shoot what you ask for.  I had some hiccups in the ceremony where I wish he'd kept the camera rolling (a friend was singing during the license signing and the jump cuts chop it up).  And they were very good about correcting a spelling error in my credits for no extra charge.

I think I'm gonna pull it out when I get home and watch it now......
  • Dramaqueen-how long is your video? We got ceremony & reception coverage but couldn't afford the montage. Do they edit the footage to make it like a movie, or add music? TIA

  • Mine opens with the picture montage set to the music I gave them (just zooms and fade; nothing spectacular, but it worked), ceremony and reception are as is with the exception of the breaks in the ceremony I mentioned earlier.  The reception covered the group photo session, cake cutting and pulls, toast, dances, general dancing, well wishes from friends and other moments, and closed with us saying a thanks and good night in the reception hall garden (I didn't have him long enough to catch the second line--blessing in disguise considering the joke my BMs played on us).  They used slo-mo clips of our first dance for the credits with the music I chose.  If she can pull it and you want to see ours, ask her about the Cottles-Adams wedding in 2004.

Although it's really difficult to ignore a camera pointed at you, the guys are really unobtrusive, and considering the placement restrictions my church put on him he really managed to get around with little disturbance during the ceremony and still catch the majority of the action.
  • Thanks a bunch!

  • Too expensive! We went with Scott Alwert, and he did the same things for our video for $1500 that Welliver wanted to charge $9000+ for. And he did a fantastic job!  We had a photo montage of our baby pictures and our pictures of us together, he did a scene with our invitation, interviews with family members, plus the slow motion highlights at the end. Plus, since we went to Disney World for our honeymoon, at the end of the reception, we got in the car and he said "Now that you're married, what are you going to do?" and we yelled out "We're going to Disney World!" Our idea, but it came out really really cute. Check his site out, there's a sample video on there.

  • Oh, and Scott doesn't have a time limit. He got to the hotel at 3 and filmed us getting ready, taking pictures, then he went to the church and did his thing there, and stayed for the entire reception.

  • I know my post is late, just giving my 2 cents. They aggravated the heck out of me when we went to check out their stuff. She's too showy, he wasn't even there, and they kept calling us to see if we made our decision on a videographer. Can we say, "send to voicemail!"?
