Atlanta, Ga restaurant recommendations?

My husband and I are traveling to Atlanta for a long weekend in a few weeks and I was wondering if you all had any good restaurant recs?

Re: Atlanta, Ga restaurant recommendations?

  • Where are you staying? Will you have a car? If money is not an issue (and assuming you can get in) the highest rated restaurant in Atlanta is Bacchanalia, it is great but a set menu and pricey. If you want nice but not as expensive I would check out Abbatoir or Floataway Cafe, both sister restaurants of that one; Ecco; Aria; Antica Posta; Wisteria; Rathbun's or Rathbun's Steak; Woodfire Grill.

  • I visited Atlanta for business last year and sought out the Woodfire Grill. I was a fan of Chef Kevin Gillespie on Top Chef and wasn't disappointed at all.  It was a lovely meal and amazing service - a wonderful experience.

If I had had more time there, I would have gone to Richard Blais' burger place Flip.

  • Antico Pizza is great.
  • We will be driving and staying Sunday- Tuesday at the Holiday Inn a few blocks from Turner Field. The main reason we are going is because my H is a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and they are playing the Braves during the day on Monday. We were hoping to go somewhere nice, but not too pricey the first night and then Monday, the last night, go somewhere a little more upscale, preferably downtown.

Thank you very much for all of your recs so far....I will check them out online.

I would recommend Ecco or Wisteria or Sotto Sotto (Ecco is in Midtown, the last two are in Inman Park) for your upscale night.
