What I hate about online / catalog shopping

I hate when the pics don't show you what you NEED to see about the clothes.

I'm looking at a catalog, at jeans. They have photos of two different models wearing the jeans. Both models are wearing long tunics with the jeans.

I CAN'T SEE THE %$# WAIST.

Isn't that area pretty effing important for FIT of a garment??!

Feel free to add your own complaint.

Re: What I hate about online / catalog shopping

  • UGH SO annoying! Especially for jeans, because that's sort of the most important part.

I hate when there is obviously a pattern on the garment, but no close-up picture of the pattern.

  • I hate when they up the vibrancy on the color of items, and when you receive them they're a completely different color.
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • I hate when they style an article with it tucked in or with the model in an awkward pose so you can't see how it will fit.
  • I hate when the online or catalog pictures have the clothing all rolled up, scrunched up, and stuff so that you can't tell what the length or the finishing is like.
  • I hate when white or really light garments are photographed against white or really light backgrounds!  It makes so hard to see!

I agree. EVERY BLINKING TIME I am shopping for blazers, half of them have the sleeves pushed up... or are the ruched, and sewn that way?? Who the hell knows! You certainly can't tell from the picture.

  • Honestly, I think there are so many problems with shopping for clothing online, I don't do it and am surprised by people who do regularly buy things that way. I really have to try stuff on, and feel the quality with my own hands before I decide to buy something. I think if I shopped online, I'd be lucky if I liked 10% of what I ordered. Just doesn't seem like good odds to me. I'm way too lazy to deal with the returns of all the stuff that wasn't what I thought it was going to be.

Along the same lines as the OP, I don't like when you can't see the back of a piece of clothing.

  • As gorgeous as the photos are in the Anthropologie catalogs, they are worthless from a shopping perspective. You can barely see the clothes. You just get an idea of them.

Also, I hate online retailers that don't do reviews. Which is supposed to be the best part of online shopping (well, that and not having to go to the store). I'm looking at you, J. Crew. How hard is it to include a review function like most sites?
