UPDATE:  I was about to call Interview #2 and stopped. I've been thinking about this nonstop since leaving #2 yesterday and I can't quite justify passing up on #1. I'm going on vacation at the end of the month and that's part of the reason that they want me to start immediately. I ended up calling #1 and accepting.  #2 doesn't start until July, so I keep telling myself that if I'm really unhappy with #1 then maybe I can still get back in good with #2.  Thanks for your help girls, at least I know somebody on the inside who is saying that she loves the company.  Woohoo, I have a job again! :::runs off to buy new work clothes:::

I quoted the update from my other post:

Thanks girls again for your help with my interview questions.

Interview #1 went great and they offered me the job on the spot, right in the middle of the range I gave them, and they want me to start on Friday so I have to let them know ASAP.

Interview #2 also went really well and they said that they had to discuss salary with the powers that be and that I should hear from them by Weds.

I'm so glad to know that I can finally get back to paying off the debt, instead of scraping by. A former coworker actually works at interview #1 and she says its a great company (I'm pretty sure that's why they felt comfortable offering me the position on the spot), I just wish the commute was less (at least 1.5 hours - which is common around here).

Interview #2 The job wouldn't start until July, but it's about 2miles from my house and I don't have an offer yet.

Ok, so I have to call Interview #1 today and let them know if I accept BUT I can't stop thinking about #2. Would it be wrong of me to call them and say that I received another offer after leaving there yesterday? I don't want them to feel like I'm pressuring them but if they are seriously considering me (which it seemed like they are) then I want to give the chance to do something about it, or at least let them know so they can scratch me off the list.

What do I say?  I've never been in this kind of position before?

  • I would call #2 and tell them you have another offer on the table.  It can't hurt.  Good luck.

While it makes me feel squiggy inside to suggest this, this was along the lines of what I was thinking.  Take #1, see how it goes. IF #2 offers you something, see what they offer and decide if it would be better for you or not.  It's not ideal to start a job and leave quickly after - but you have to put yourself first.  Neither company is going to do that for you.

     Good luck!
