So, I got the Studio Tech compact foundation this weekend. I needed to refill, and couldn't wait for the super awesome discount.

I do use it with my blot powder to set it. The sales rep said that it dries to a powder, but I feel like it was still sort of wet after, so I just brush on my blot powder. So far, I like it better than the Studio Sculpt that I was using. Maybe it's the sponge applicator, it feels more even.

As far as that eye shadow application. I drew on the colors I would use from the Naked Palette to create this look. I'll explain application below.

Steps I use:
1. Use primer on the naked lid. I use MAC's Paint Pot in Painterly. I'd use this even if you aren't doing any shadow. It brightens your eye and makes it look even in color. If no eyeshadow and just primer, I'd brush some blot powder to set it.

2. Brush Naked from lash line to crease starting from inner eye. Flat or round eyeshadow brush should work for this.

3. Brush Toasted on the crease section. Increasing shadow on outer lid area down to the lash line. I'd use a flat brush for shadow application, and a round brush to blend. (be sure to blend well at this point. No drag queen makeup, haha)

4. Brush Buck from outer lash line moving up to crease, only on the outer area of the eye. Try to stick with the area defined in the picture. Blend again with round brush. Less pressure at the blending points. You don't want to strip or do the wax on wax off type of movements. Just go with the outline of the shape of the shadow you just applied.

5. Brush Virgin just under the eyebrow to the line of Toasted. Some people prefer to do step 2 then this step with the highlight before the darker colors. I've always done it in the order I've listed. I like that I can tone down the darker colors with some of the highlight. I also think the blending is a bit easier this way. I'd try both ways and go with what works best for you.

6. Line eye with dark brown or black liner. I use either liquid or wind up pencil. If you want it to look softer (as in the picture above, I'd use an eyeliner makeup brush to apply some of Hustle or Darkhorse to soften the liner.

7. Apply Mascara. (curl lashes if needed)

8. Brush some of the blot powder below your lower lash line to prevent the liner/shadow from melting or running during the day.

** Extra - If you want to look a bit more awake, brushing a bit of Virgin in the inner corner of your eye like the picture below (but less intense), will do the trick. This is a trick that Carmandy uses on What not to Wear.

This all might sound like a lot, but it's like cooking or baking. Just ingredients to add to make a cake. You list each color/step, but it goes pretty fast. This whole process would take about 3-5 minutes. (with practice, I guess I should say. haha)

Hope this helps! :)

  • Smo, you'll have to teach babyliu. I can barely apply lip gloss and I only understand half of what you wrote.

I'd be glad to. When I come to visit, I can do it in person so that it makes more sense. I'm so much more of a visual person, so writing it out was kind of tough. I can imagine it being even tougher to read.
