Stolen from TIP: What do you do to keep sanity?

What are your little retreats from reality to keep your mind at peace and keeps you from going BSC?

Aaaand Go!!!

Being the introvert that I am, there is a TON I do, and all of them are loner activities. Reading, gardening, cleaning. I don't know what I am going to do if we have loud boisterous children.

For Example: Today I worked outside in my garden, it was glorious. It wasn't sunny or hot, but it was just what I needed. A great way to de-stress from this hellish semester.

ETA: Grammar fixes.

  • Yoga.

The gym in general, but yoga has made me just.. never feel stressed. It's almost as if I'm incapable of feeling it. Preeeetty awesome.

That and just lazy mornings sipping coffee and watching the Today Show... haha

  • I'm similar to you!

I love to go for a walk by myself. Take a bath, read a book. Take a nap in the sun ( our bedroom doesn't get as much sun as the guest room so I end up in there if I need a sunny nap). Crochet. Clean random things like the windowsills. Or I bake.

  • It depends on how I'm feeling.  But some of my de-stress activites include taking a long, hot shower, crying it out (doesn't happen very often,) go for a drive, go to the gym, play outside with the pup.
  • Yoga, sewing, gardening, hot bath.

  • I'll get in the car and just drive, journal (then throw it away), walk around Target aimlessly, go to Panera/Starbucks/any cafe type place and hang out and read, buy new shoes.
  • Run, workout, go hiking by myself or with my dogs, play loud music and sing to it, relax in the bath

  • Run, shower, or if I'm at work I will listen to an upbeat song to get my mood up. When I can, I walk my pups. I love when they are heeling and look up at me and we have a great connection going. It makes me feel so loved.

Then what do you do to keep your insanity? ;)

  • Normally sleeping or taking a nap will help reset my mind.

Except tonight. I started nap time at 5pm. I woke up at 9:30pm from the longest nightmare ever. I dreamt I was in a huge indoor/outdoor testing facility trying to find my way out and every time I thought I was free I discovered that I was still in the maze and that it was much bigger than I thought and started to lose hope of ever navigating my way out without getting caught.

When I woke up I had to call DH and talk to him for a few minutes in order to convince myself that I was back in reality.

Generally it just depends on the nature of what it is that's making me insane what measures are needed in order to adequately separate myself and get my brain back.

Take on more crap than I can deal with.

And play with heavy weights. I am pretty sure you have to be half nuts to be a powerlifter.

  • Work out, read, drink, nest...
    Shot first, questions later.
  • Read (books and blogs). Sometimes cleaning or organizing allow me to get some thinking done while not having to sit in a room alone and obsess. But the key for me is alone time. If I am on some super-crazy ***, I just need an hour (at least) with no one who wants me to cook/answer 300 questions/find something for them/etc.

When my uterus isn't occupied, a large glass of my favorite red wine and a back rub from my H help me totally zone out and everything seems like it can just wait until tomorrow. :)

  • I eat. Lol. I'm an emotional eater. In turn I then feel the need to run or lift it out.

  • I have horses, so it's to the barn for this girl if I can find a babysitter. Smile

My daughter keeps me pretty busy these days, but when she's not threatening to combust I like to read, enjoy a nice glass of wine, watch brain killing TV (Read: Kardashians), or clean.

We frequent the dog park pretty often too. I love meeting the people there!
