My boss won't let me take 2 days off
We're moving in our home on a Friday, and we'll probably need to spend a lot of time the Monday of the next week unpacking too. I wanted to just take Friday and and Monday off, but my boss won't let me.
I work as a hotel receptionist, and I guess there's a conference somewhere near my job. A lot of people will be staying there, so he needs me to be working. I have a subsitute, so I don't know why I can't take a couple days off.
What should I do?

This. I don't completely disagree with your boss -- you probably should have asked off further in advance, especially if it is a busy time at work.

I'd rather be at work than unpacking!
The boxes definitely aren't going anywhere so just tackle a couple everyday. I'm assuming you don't work 24 hours per day so there should be some time to start the unpacking process.
Go to work. You can unpack when you get home.
We are moving soon and while I will probably have to take a day off to go get some furniture that is stored at my parents' house out of state, I am not taking days off to unpack. That can be done gradually. I mean, if I don't get around to unpacking my formal china for a week or so, it isn't going to hurt. I'll just unpack what I need first.
I don't understand why you are so upset!! Go to work and do not think about calling in sick! If you read your HR policy, I am sure your Supervisor has to approve your time off, if due to work load he is asking you to go to work, you have to go to work.
Unpack on your own time! Your personal life is not your employers problem.

That's a very narrow-minded view. Managers (I'm one) have to be sure there are enough people onsite to handle the workload. What if everyone wanted to take off on the same day (e.g. Christmas, New Year's Day, etc.)?
If the business can not properly serve its customers, then it won't be in business for very long. Most managers try to be fair, some are just power-tripping, but at the end of the day their responsibility is the smooth operation of the office/hotel/hospital/whatever.
For the life of me I can't see the big deal about this. Are you unpacking boxes of puppies or something? What is it that can't wait until you get home?

Go to work and book off time that works with you and the manager.
I don't see this as a huge deal unless you are never getting your holiday time and personal time that you are entitled too in your job contract.
