Need some ideas for the holidays...

last year I made cookies for friends/family/neighbors. This year I want to do something different. Anyone have some recipes they can share...candies, mixes, etc.,

Thanks!

  • Paula Deen has recipes for flavored creamer if you have coffee drinkers in your family/neighborhood/friend circles.  I'd also like to try candied nuts and the chex mix varieties.  What's your email address?  I'd be happy to send some ideas to you.

  • I don't do anything super fancy but I like to make a few things at the holidays.  I think I'm going to do peppermint bark, Saltine Toffee, and Oreo truffles.
  • I second Oreo Truffles.  I made them last night for Thanksgiving and they are so yummy.

  • Peanut Butter Honey Balls

    1/2 c peanut butter

    1/2 c honey

    1 c powdered milk

    1 c. oatmeal

Combine and roll into 1" balls.

    Very yummy & simple!

  • I usually get together with a bunch of friends and make chocolate truffles using the ghiradelli recipe.  I usually pick up little gift boxes at the craft store and at the end of the day we divide up the truffles.  We usually pick up chocolate at Trader Joes (Belgium pound plus bars).  We usually do different flavored batches using different liquors.
  • Cinnamon Apple Sauce Ornaments

Combine a 16 oz. jar of applesauce, 8 oz. or more of cinnamon, and 1 oz. of either allspice, nutmeg or cloves (I use allspice).?
Combine all ingredients and mix *very* well.?
Roll out dough to 1/4" thickness (putting plastic wrap around the rolling pin works well).?
Cut out the ornaments with cookie cutters.?
While dough is still wet, poke a hole in each ornament .?
Dry in a 150F oven for about 3 hours, turning halfway through.?You can then tie ribbons on them! ?They smell great and are so easy to make! ?Make sure the dough gets a little stiff, you do not want it super super wet if you know what i mean. ?have fun!
