weekend plans?

Weather looks good for this weekend!

We have no concrete plans. Just going to do some de-weeding in our front yard, take Oliver to the playground, and hope to get in a workout since I've been slacking.

Re: weekend plans?

  • No plans for us either and I'm happy about it.  Weeding and planting of the garden is the main priority this weekend. I also have a ton of errands to run.

  • Today is my last day of classes!  Exams next week and then I'll be off until I return from maternity leave after Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I will be so happy to be able to wear mesh shorts and t-shirts daily and focus on getting ready for the baby.

Tonight we don't have plans, but may get together with DH's family for pizza night.  Low-key, whatever it is.

Tomorrow we will be scrubbing the pool (it's a lovely shade of dark green currently) and then to the Phils game to see my boyfriend retire as a Phillie.  I am super excited.

Sunday we have a communion party for one of my cousin's kids.

We also need to shop for a grill this weekend.

  • Well, let's see.

I quit my job. Last day is today. I start school to study nursing on Monday.

So this weekend, I celebrate the last bit of relaxation i'm going to have for the next 2 years.

  • Larrysdarling ---- Good luck!!!

Tracyd --- Have a nice summer. I'm assuming you're a teacher? DH is a HS teacher and he's so ready for summer. As jealous as I am that he's off, I do love that he can take Oliver to daycare and pick him up, and take care of things around the house!!

Yes, I am.  Do you keep Oliver in DC all summer long?  We are looking at a few places soon and I'm curious as to what they do with kids who have teachers as parents.  I assume with some you pay tuition regardless of whether they go, and others are more flexible.

He's going part-time this summer (we have the option to do MWF or TTh, then go back to full-time in September). We think 3 days/week will be a good balance. Plus, he won't be there for 9-10 hours/day like he is now. DH will probably take him at 8:30/9 and pick him up by 4.

ETA: I'm pretty sure they'd let us stop completely in the summer, and pick up again in Sept. But, I'm afraid that if we took him out completely, it'd be hard to transition back in the fall. Plus he loves it there and gets to do a lot of activities I wouldn't even think to do at home.

  • Good luck LD!

Tomorrow: shopping with a friend in the morning and bbq with other friends at night

Sunday: Hopefully relax since next week is going to be hell.

  • wow, LD! Good for you! I wish I had the courage to go back to school for something totally different. I really regret not going to school to be a teacher and as much as I want to do it, I fear there won't be any teaching jobs by the time I'm done anyway because they are few and far between as it is now.

We initially had DH's friends coming down from Williamsport and staying for the weekend but they called this morning and both their kids are sick and they aren't coming down now (yesss!).

Saturday: Swim lessons with the baby and then a spring fair at DS's school.

Sunday: No idea. We were going to do the zoo with DH's friends but since they are not longer coming down, we may hold off and go another time.

  • Thanks girls. It was a long time coming and something I should have done years ago. I'm lucky that I found an affordable program that accepted 74 credits from my first undergrad degree. I have 1 class to make up and that will allow me to start as a junior. I'm terrified but really excited.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Hopefully the new old format will bring some life back to this board.

  • I'm just catching up on some posts...LD, that is fantastic- congratulations!  And that's awesome that so many of your credits were accepted!

Friday night I volunteered at Bingo for the Blind- it was a long night, but such a great event.

Saturday was DH's birthday, but he had to coach all day at a swim meet...so Aisling and I went to swim lessons and then hung at home relaxing a bit.  Then we walked (I'm so proud of myself for not driving!) to Rita's to try the new pb&j water ice.  I'm not real into it, but Ais loved it.  Tonight when DH got home, we went to Marlin & Ray's for dinner- yummy!

Today DH coaches again, so my dad is going to help me get the kid and dogs wrangled up and go to pug play group...then I'm thinking either go to my parents' for a bit to hang, or come home and nap, depending on how Aisling and I are feeling.

  • I'm way late but congrats and best of luck LD!  It takes guts to do what you're doing so hats off!

  • Im also way late but wanted to say good luck to LD. As you know, from your responses to my posts about career switching, I have considering being a similar rebel but Im waiting for now because I fear that my currently sucky job is whats pushing me into nursing rather than my honest interest and future love for it. We'll see. In the meantime, I hope it all works out well for you. It will be hard but so worth it, and its temporary, and your baby will never remember you being gone for classes etc so nows a great,  yet hectic, time to do it! Way to go! Enjoy the change ;)

Also, I had a great weekend largely due to the gorgeous weather and DH-- who must be trying to win a husband of the year award with how helpful and flexible hes been recently. DD LOVED the water table we bought her to play in the yard with (much less messy for me than a baby pool) and she only had a couple "two year old moments" this weekend. We also narrowed down our baby name list to 10 contenders with 2 in the lead, so we're making progress. DD suggested the name Rex, so perhaps the list is now at 11?!

I love the name Rex! Love it.

Thanks for the words. My last 2 jobs in the last 10 years have sucked the life outta me. I can't do corporate America. My background is in nutrition and domestic violence and I think it will lend nicely.

Im not sure how it's going to work with my girl. My in laws have offered to take her so we pulled her out of daycare to save $$. For now I actually have more time with her at least through the summer even though I'm taking 12 credits. I'm not in class every day. I only have to take 12 credits each semester and prob 1 day of clinical. I was spending more time away from her at work. We'll see- I know it's going to be a ton of studying.
