We have been looking for a home for more than six months. We haven't found anything worth putting an offer in. It seems like every home in our price range hasn't been updated since the 80's. Not to mention the structure of these homes are less than good. We could go to another location but we would be sacrificing location to DH's work and school districts.Has anyone been in this situation, and what did you do?
Re: Getting Frustrated
Took us 8 months to find house #1 --- we did alot of renovations.
Took us 4 years to find house #2 --- we did alot of renovations.
We started last fall, saw several great houses, but weren't ready to buy. We started looking again in March, and it seemed like EVERYTHING we saw was outdated. Finally, at the very beginning of May, we found the perfect home and are hoping to close by the end of June.
Something will come along, you just have to keep looking. Also, I would suggest looking at houses slightly above your price range, and then keeping an eye on them to see if the sellers reduce the price over time. That way, if your dream house suddenly drops into your price range, you can quickly jump on it before other buyers in your range make offers. That is what happened with our house. It was overpriced to begin with, and ended up sitting on the market for several months. As soon as it dropped into our range, we made our move.
Also, I really like your screen name!
