Last year, my sister and I paid for my parents to go to Hawaii. When we were growing up, they never went anywhere themselves and never to destinations they would have preferred - it was always Disney and camping trips for us. We love the idea of giving back now that they are empty nesters and don't have to be at home, taking care of us.
We just booked a trip for them to go to Excellence Playa Mujeres in December. They've never been to an adults-only or an all-inclusive; my mom has never been to Mexico.
We want to think of a cute and creative way to "present" them with this trip. Last year with Hawaii, we had to call my mom up and get her permission to book the trip since it was more last minute and we needed to make sure she could get off of work. Since she's got plenty of advanced notice, we'd like to make this trip a bit more fun in terms of surprising them.
Any ideas?
Re: Surprising my parents with a trip to Mexico...How?
Scavenger hunt, that ends with a treasure chest filled with Mexico stuff?
Dinner at Mexican restaurant?
It's really sweet of you, I hope they have a great time!
Ok, I think you've sealed the deal - my sister and I were definitely thinking the Mexican restaurant route. There's one nearby that we love that they have never been to. We were thinking of slipping a card to the server to deliver as "dessert".
I'm so excited to see the looks on their faces! They're going to have an amazing time.
take them to a mexican restaurant for dinner. get there early. have the waiter attach the itinerary or tickets or whatever into both of them menus for them.
Love the Mexican restaurant idea, and with the brochure for EPM & itinerary attached to menu
Let us know how it goes!
