Any recommendations on traveling with a pet? We are PCS-ing in the next month and this will be the first time traveling with the dog. He is just a small 4.5 lb yorkie so not very big but I know a lot of hotels don't allow animals. Any recommendations on hotels that allow animals? How does it work? Do we need to make reservations prior to our move and warn them we will be bringing an animal or can we just show up?
TIA!
Re: Traveling with a pet
We like going to the quality chains - quality inn, sleep inn, those ones. Free breakfast and most take pets.
Eta: we usually check ahead of time who takes animals. H likes to make reservations ahead of time, I have done the call a few hours before getting there Or just showing up and been fine
I changed my name
We travel with our dogs all of the time. It is best to plan out your trip from start to finish.
I second LaQuinta. We have stayed with them almost everytime we travel, now we even stay with them on the rare occasion we don't have the dog.
We have found them to be be clean, friendly, and comfortable. The breakfast is a great bonus, especially if you have a day of traveling ahead. I have tried Days Inn and Motel 6 on occasion. Each time I found the rooms rather dirty and not worth the money saved.
FYI- usually the AAA rate is cheaper than the military rate at LaQuinta, if you have AAA.
