BLW book recs?

The more I read about BLW, the more interested I am in it.  So far we've been doing purees and jarred stuff, but I'd like to read up a bit on BLW.  Does anyone have a book rec that they can share?

Re: BLW book recs?

  • Hmm I can't remember the name but I bought the "bible on blw" on amazon. I'd post in the AP board they told me in the first place.
  • Did M respond well to it?  V just seems to want to grab the spoon out of my hand so I like the idea of him being in a bit more control.
  • I am reading Baby-Led Weaning: The Essential Guide to Introducing Solid Foods.

He did great. I mean we still get compliments on how well he eats and the array. He seriously didn't eat a ton when he was tiny but it was no big deal around 9/10 months it clicked and we were all good.

This is what I read. It's by Gil Rapley. The Amazon reviews are correct - the book is a bit repetitive. I joined the FB group and there are a lot of helpful Q&A, videos, etc.

You're local so you may want to take the 1 hr class at BRC - both JenD and I took it. It's like an abbreviated version of the book, but you can ask questions.

Z is 6.5 months and we haven't started yet.  I'm not convinced he's ready plus we've been traveling so I haven't felt like dealing. But we also haven't started cereals or purees because I want to skip them in favor of BLW and let me tell you the raised and side-eyes I get when people (family, healthcare providers, etc.) ask what he's eating and I say he's still EBF.

I thought the book was a little unnecessary and I could find almost all of the information online in blogs and other discussions. The cookbook that came out last April though IMO is the way to go.

Ditto.  This is the book I'm currently reading.  FYI - The Montco library doesn't carry it.

And I agree, the FB group is helpful - make sure you click on the right one because there are a couple - Baby-led Weaning.

As JRM said, we both took the class.  I was already familiar with the concept from reading about it on various blogs so I didn't find it too helpful but it was nice to be able to ask specific questions.  But you could also just ask specific questions on the FB board.

J is 5.5 months and still has a strong tongue thrust reflex so I'm not even planning on attempting it for another month.  People keep asking if we've started rice cereal yet and most I just say no and leave it at that because I don't want to get into it.

The top three and the FB page were what we used. And holy hell it feels like FOREVER ago.

I was told by DH's aunt that I am basically starving Penny. She should be eating full meals and barely BF at this point. Confused
