Im an orthopedic PA and have been for 6 years. I basically spend my days and nights in surgery. One of the reasons I chose to be a PA is because unlike a doctor, I can change specialties.
Im looking for a new job and just saw something in hematology/oncology (blood and cancer). it is an interest of mine, but not a surgical position. How do I explain in my cover letter why I'm trying to switch (without saying better hours, more compassion, etc)
Re: wording of cover letter
::waves::
yeah, i can. I'm just trying to keep the stereotypical, BS lines to a minimum. Kind of like the "im a good leader, hardworking, dependable, punctual" blah to a minimum, you know chrisnjay?
hehe hi
yea i hear ya. I hate cover letters with a passion.
I know nothing about this field. That being said, here are some things to consider:
-What is it that lead you to want to go into hematology/oncology?
-What did you learn working in orhopedics that can be applied in your new field?
-How has your past experience prepared you for this change?
