So as it turns out DH & I wont be taking an actual vacation next week b/c our leech field (part of the septic system) has to be replaced and it costs a pretty penny. We are still taking our vacation time but have no plans. I was thinking of doing a day trip or two.
He works in NYC so anything in the city he isnt going to want to do. I was thinking of going to the Walkway over the Hudson.
Any ideas? Things you have done?
Re: Day Trips
Hey! Some ideas:
Jersey Shore-Long Branch area isn't too far for a day trip.
Woodstock (and I think Howe's Caverns are around there too). I remember as a teen my parents took us there one day.
Tour some of the local wineries.
Philadelphia is close enough if you wanted to make that into a day trip and visit the Liberty Bell/Constitution Hall/Society Hill area.
Hudson Valley Renegades game.
Once in a while my family and I will drive to New Haven CT and go to this yummy restaurant called Jimmy's of Savin Rock. It's right on the water and the inside decor is pretty dated but we love the lobster rolls there! So we'll drive there (less than an hour and a half from here) walk along the water for a little and have lunch. We usually stop at Stew Leonard's in Norwalk on the way back too. Not that that is super exciting but it's different at least
Lawyer, i totally forgot about amusement parks! We are big amusement park people and its been a while since we did that.
All of these are good ideas to run by him, keep em coming ladies!
J and i recently went to Bear Mountain Park and had a lovely time walking and taking in the sights.
The Walkway over the Hudson is one of my favorite places to roller skate.
I believe there are geo-cacheing sites in the 'gunks.
Or what about sky diving in Gardiner?
I promised myself i will make it to Bannerman Island this year too.
Mystic ct was great we went there last year- if you go make sure to go to the ice cream shop right by the draw bridge! it was to die for!
We just went to the Bronx zoo the other day and had a great time.
Also we love to make a date and go to one of the casinos for a concert, we always go early enough to get dinner there too.
If you do the walkway over the hudson you can do a picnic at the Roosevelt house or the Vanderbilt estates too.
Idk if you have drive in movies but up by me we have a drive in that is close to the walkway also so you could go to one if you don't have one closer to you.
That's all i can think of right now....
