Cleaning Schedule

Sorry if this has been posted:  My house I feel is always a disaster.  I think if I had a schedule to follow of things to make sure that are done daily, weekly, etc it would help.  Anyone have any they use?

Thanks

Anniversary

Re: Cleaning Schedule

  • Daily:

Wipe down the kitchen counters, scrub the kitchen sink, do the dishes, pick up anything that DH or DD has left laying around, make the beds, sweep the kitchen floor

    Weekly:

Scrub the showers, toilets, and bathroom countertops, dust, vacuum, mop the floors, wash bed linens, dust all picture frames and misc items

    Monthly:

Wipe down all the cabinets, door frames, window seals and blinds, organize and straighten any cabinets that are messy

I know I've left some stuff out but these are the major to-do's.

I am not perfect at keeping a clean house, but I try to do a little at a time, and then I go balls-to-the-wall every now and then and do a complete clean-up.  It works for now, but then again, I don't have children.  How the heck do you keep a clean place with children?!?!

  • I downloaded a calendar template and filed in my cleaning schedule. I was having a hard time remember when I last did something so this is the easiest method for me. Most of my cleaning gets done on the weekends so I filled everything in on Sundays to make it easier. Also it's good for stuff like when we rotate our mattress (DH's insistance) every 6 months or change out our water filters.

Weekly I clean my bathrooms (counters & mirror), vaccum, wash my kitchen sponges, change the pillow cases and change out all the towels (bath and bathroom hand towels).

Every other week-I change the sheets and do a full clean of the bathrooms (mopping, toliets, cleaning the shower).

Once a month I clean the washing machine (fill with hot water, add 4c vinegar & 1/2c baking soda, let aggitate for a couple mins, sit for an hour, finish the cycle-but make sure it's on drain and spin not rinse and spin I learned the hard way on that one)

Stuff like cleaning the stove & the counters gets done as needed

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

  • Daily: Living room pick up (end of night after kids are in bed), wipe bathroom and kitchen counters down, sweep kitchen (it is an eat in), dishes, and 1-2 loads of laundry.

Monday - Living room: dust, sweep, and mop.

Tuesday - Main bathroom: tub, toilet, sink, wipe down cabinet fronts, clean mirror, sweep, and mop.

Wed - Kitchen: wipe down cabinet fronts, wipe down appliances, microwave, couters, table, sweep, and mop. I do kitchen on Wed because trash runs on Thurs.

Thurs - Laundry room: wipe down machines, straighten pantry side out, and fold and put away any clothes left in there.

Fri - Caleb's room: Dust, sweep, mop, organize closet and changing table. Change sheets.

Sat - Mia's room: Dust, sweep, mop, and closet. Change sheets.

Sunday - our room and bathroom. You get the idea.

Monthly: Vacuum under seat cushions in living room furniture, organize bathroom storage cabinet, clean out fridge and freezer, cycle washing machine clean, vacuum dryer vents, wipe down switchplates and doorknobs. Clean ceiling fan blades, windows, baseboards, sweep front porch of house, wash out trash containers.

I have an app on my phone I use. The monthlies are not done all in one day. Just once a month. I got this from here.

  • I rearranged different schedulest until I figured out what was best for me!  You could do a daily schedule where you break down what cleaning tasks you want to tackle each day, or have a more flexible schedule where you make a list of the cleaning tasks for the week and month and then pick and choose which tasks you want to do each day.  I tried copying other people's schedules, but I love the one I eventually made myself the best :)  hope this helps!
