Re: has anyone had a shorter hair cat lion cut for the summer?
I've always wanted to give Simon the lion cut. Someday, my dream will come true.
To answer your question, no. When I was growing up, we had a long-haired cat that we had shaved when he got old and was no longer grooming himself but we never shaved any of our cats for shedding. If you think your cat will tolerate the grooming, I'd say go for it. But if you're going to majorly stress the cat or have to sedate it to get the cut, I would say it isn't worth it. I, personally, wouldn't risk putting my cat under just to get it shaved. Also, if your cat is vindictive, like my Simon tends to be, you might end up trading cleaning up hair for a cat that pees where it isn't supposed to or scratched furniture. You just never know how a cat will react or what they'll do when they're pissed.
