Weekend a Bust

The festival thing turned out to be a fiasco... drama with J's dad (ugh... what is with boys and their drama with parents)... long story but now I'm home, alone and I really didn't want to be alone today. I think the ex is remarrying as we speak. Anyone around... tell me something random?

Re: Weekend a Bust

  • Oh no! Sorry to hear that :( I hope your weekend gets better!

Random- I bought Sally hansens new nail polish today. It claims to be "insta-dry" and they weren't kidding! I just barely finished painting my nail and it was dry already! Perfect for people like me that don't have time to sit around and wait!

  • I've tried instant drying nailpolish, I still mess it up, lol! I'm a terrible nails painter, argh. Nicely done! :)
  • Dr. Google convinced Ricky that D had croup so off to the real Dr we went - no croup, just a yucky cold.

    We switched to Fios today

I have a ton of papers to grade this weekend. Luckily it is all pretty straight forward, no 'well, is it possible that they understand this concept."

Straight forward grading is awesome. I had a student TA this year (a super responsible girl who passed my class a year early last year) and she does some of my super easy grading. Suuuuch a help!! I'lll miss that next year. I had Fios... it was affordable, not the best customer service as I recall.

  • I'm happy to hear D doesn't have croup at least! As for the doctor, it's always better to be safe than sorry.

I like Fios- no complaints from me!

I hate grading writing- that's my least favorite of all. It takes me so long because most of the time it's painful to get through.

Agreed, it irks me when my high schoolers write "tho" or "prolly" or "btw" in their papers... argh. Then again, the community I work in has a huge achievement gap. I'm interviewing at a school where the students have more skills and I'd be teaching Advanced Placement, which means a TON of essay grading, but hopefully much higher quality....

  • I'm sorry that your weekend didn't turn out the way you hoped! (HUGS)

Last night we had a terrible night with T.. I was up with her for 2 hours and then I gave her to J who spend another hour with her before finally getting her down. Today I put her in the wrap and we went outside which she really seemed to like she was fussing in the house and then when I stepped out she was quiet. She actually fell asleep and slept for almost 1 1/2 hours in the wrap. At least I could get a few things done that way.

Another random: Today I cleaned up almost all her 0-3 month outfits/sleepers etc. Sad Kinda sad since she had some cute outfits and sleepers. At least she has more cute stuff in the closet waiting to be worn!

  • So sorry you had a rough time but glad she slept a little. I'm like her. I love being outside. :) Hang in there mama! :)

On a side note, we had neighbors move into the apartment above the garage (I live in duplex house with an apt over the garage (so 3 unit place) and my pups have had to get used to the new neighbors and their little dog coming into "their" courtyard (because don't you know, everything they see is their territory). For the first week, they barked up a storm. Now, they do this kind of adorable, "I'm sooooo trying not to bark but I almost can't help myself" whine/mini grr (but not a growl)... don't know how to describe it but it cracks me up. I can SEE them trying to reign in self-control b/c I've disciplined them for barking for no reason. They are doing so much better and it's great entertainment for me. They're good girls... :)

  • LOL.. that's funny about the dogs!

  • Crystal, I was just coming on to ask you what had happened.  I'm sorry things fell through!  I get the whole "men and drama with their parents" thing because we are going through it right now and have been for the past month.  I'm kind of ready to wave the white flag but E isn't.

I had a friend recommend the SensatioNail system and it's freaking awesome!  It's a gel system that comes with a light and the nail dries instantly.  My nails feel so smooth too :)

Best part?  My manicure lasted two weeks!  I feel like it would have gone further if 1) my nails hadn't grown so much, and 2)  I didn't want to switch colors!  I highly recommend it!

That's what I'll be doing on Tuesday.  Yes, I put it off and now school is about over so it needs to get done.  Kindergarten was so much easier b/c I just had to look for certain characteristics to determine what developmental level they were at.  Still took a while though.

  • I'm sorry your weekend was bust and you were left alone today, of all days.

My random:  Mr. Seconds has a really long tail!  It's so cute.  Also, I stepped on his paw today while wearing sneakers.  It's partly his fault b/c he feels the need to walk under my feet all the time, but I felt terrible.  To make matters worse, he just had his declaw surgery last week, so his paws were already tender.  It still feel bad about it.  Sad

Other random:  3 1/2 days of school left!

Yeah, it is drama. The ex's mom was sweet on the outside but messed up and I didn't realize it until much later. The bf's dad has some serious trust issues b/c of the parents' divorce. I want to say, "trust, me... I UNDERSTAND about trust issues in marriage... believe me... but that doesn't mean I'm going to treat Jacob as though he is the enemy just because he is a man and just because one man betrayed and abandoned me, so please dont treat me like I am an enemy just because I am of the female gender..." alas his dad has to work out his own issues. I'll be respectful, as always and if/when he wants to make an effort, I'm there. Jacob loves me and that is what matters and we both feel as though we have done what we can to be respectful and honor him as a parent but in the end, we are 33 and 32 years old, so parents have a much different role at this point. His dad has his own emotional work to do... I get along BEAUTIFULLY with his mom and siblings though. So, the rest is up to his dad...

Such cute kitty cat names :)

I know what you mean about them being under feet. I would have thought that Payton would have learned but no, she is always right next to me. The problem is, if I step on her, I go down too b/c I trip over her (she is 70 lbs)... still she's been hurt too... why don't they learn? Such a mama's girl.

Hope your kitty's paw is better. :) Happy grading. :) Mine is all done. Finals are next week and it's all multiple choice bc grades are due one day later!!

Maria, this made me cry. You're so right. I am not looking back in a way that makes me want him in any way. Oh my goodness, the thought of spending forever with him gives me terrifying chills. I was miserable with him and didn't even realize it. That doesn't take away how he betrayed me and how I'm having some serious trust issues now. When I married him, I had no doubts that he was the only one for me... how wrong I was... so it makes it super hard to trust that again. I love Jacob, I truly do and he is a million times the man and character that Jesse ever was... but how will I ever know for sure again? Alas, the only thing that makes me feel better is to just keep praying... again and again... I know I'll feel a lot better when Jacob comes to see me tomorrow. In some ways, it helps to hate Jesse but yet I know God would not want that so when I feel that hate and utter disgust for him, I can only take it to God. Why should I sit in hate while he is off marrying the woman who he divorced me for? Nor will I even BEGIN to let this tarnish my relationship with Jacob. Maybe it will let me kind of let go a little more with Jacob, to open up even more to him, to move to our next phase... who knows... I'm just so glad that we are able to live our lives out in the open, hiding nothing, ashamed of nothing. We have been honorable and have nothing to hide. I am so so grateful for that freedom and peace. Okay, I'm rambling... but it's been a tough weekend.

    thanks girls

  • Crystal - Have you read any books about rebuilding trust? If so, is there anything you'd recommend?

I bought the book Beyond Boundaries by Townsend.  It's about learning to trust again in relationships and had pretty good reviews on amazon.  I've never read the original Boundaries book by him and Cloud, so I'm reading that first and then will read the Beyond Boundaries book next.
