Name help!

Last night Lance and I were talking about what we're going to name this kid. Up until about a month ago we had been leaning heavily towards Marshall. I decided I liked it shortly after Wyatt was born and stuck with it (since we'd had such a hard time finding the right name the first time). Lance just kind of went with it until a while ago when he started mentioning that although he likes the name, he's not excited about it and thinks we can do better.

So I've been going through lists of boys names the last couple of nights and put together a list for him to go through. I was wondering if I could get some thoughts/opinions on them and maybe some suggestions?

Love:

Marshall

Sawyer

Miles

Emmett

Harrison

Like:

Milo

Emory/Emery

Grant

Garrett

Asher

Oliver

His Suggestions:

Cyrus

Clyde

Colton

(He likes C names for some reason)

Re: Name help!

  • I PPH Sawyer and it's on our list too.  I do like Colton and I think it fits well with Wyatt.  Grant sounds like a nice strong name, too.

  • I love Sawyer, Emmett and Colton.

I think Emory/Emery is a girl name, but maybe just because I know a girl with that name. Also, Emery is a band...

  • Marshall is a good solid name! I love Miles & Emmett. Sawyer is meh, I always just think of Lost when I hear that name. I love Asher and Oliver. His suggestions are okay. I don't like Cyrus, but Colton isn't bad! Connor and Callum were both on our short list for boys names if you wanna go the C route....
  • I like Marshall, Miles, Emmett, and Harrison. I love H names though and Tony has said "only as a middle name" to Harrison and Henry, which are in my top 5. Of Lance's suggestions, I like Colton best.

  • I think Marshall, Colton, or Grant go best with Wyatt.  I think you need a strong name to go along with Wyatt, and those three are the strongest on your list, IMO.

  • Thanks so much, girls, this is great food for thought

  • I love Sawyer, Miles (and love Milo as a nn)), and Grant. I like Marshall, Emmett and Oliver. The rest are NMS. If I had to choose from one of Lance's picks, I'd go with Colton. Good luck choosing, you have some great options!

  • Baby names are so hard!!  I'm so glad we're having a boy because we couldn't agree on girls names but have 4 or 5 boys names.

From your lists, I like Miles and Colton.

But yall have to pick a name that you both like and that neither of you feels like you are settling.  It sucks when your spouse goes back on a name that you love and he'd previously agreed to (DH did this with me on a girl's name) but in the end its his baby too.

  • The only one I don't love is Milo, because it reminds me of Mile & Otis, lol.

All of the others are great names, IMO. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

Colton Sawyer has a nice ring to it.

  • I really like Colton, Sawyer, Garret, and obviously Grant ~ Grant was our top contender for a boy name until John changed his mind about a month before baby was born. We'll probably still use it for a boy name at some point though!

  • I love Sawyer, Emmett, and Miles.  Marshall and Oliver are kind of cute too.  I do not care for any of Lance's suggestions.

  • I agree with whoever said you need a strong name to go along with Wyatt. I like Miles, Sawyer and Grant. As for Lance's list, I don't love any but if I had to pick one, it would be Colten.

Also, I do like Kate's suggestion of "Colten Sawyer".

  • Was Clinton (Clint) ever mentioned? For some reason I can see that name going with Wyatt when you list off your kids names and it starts with a C so your hubby might like it lol. Plus I can see a Clint working on a farm :)

  • I have a friend whose boy is Grantham, but they use Grant almost all the time.

  • I like Emmett (Emmitt?), Garrett or Grant from those names. I think Colton is the best of Lance's picks.

I like the suggestion of Clinton... Clinton Grant, Clinton Harrison... Clint is a good, strong name (I agree with the farm mention too). Mitchell is another name I like that for some reason popped in my head when I read your names.

I agree that a strong name with Wyatt is needed. I personally think Milo, Asher, Oliver, Emory would maybe not hold up as well.

  • I love the name Asher! I think all of the names go well with Wyatt though...of your "loves" I think Marshall and Miles are nice. I can't wait to see what you decide!

  • I like:  Garrett,  Asher,  Oliver,  Colton

Of all of those though I think Colton goes the best with Wyatt and keeps with the "cowboy" theme you have going on with him :)

I also like Harrison, but I'm big on shortening/nicknames and I don't really care for "harry".

I agree that Emory/Emery seems like a girls name.

  • I love Sawyer! I was all, "I need to add that to my name list" and said it to M. No go. Boo.

I like Emmett and Grant... Marshall is alright, but not my favorite. From Lance's list I really like Colton. It's one of my favorite names, but I think it sounds awkward with our last name (too many N sounds).

  • Besides, we could pretend that Colton is named after his Nestie Auntie Cole! hahaha

  • I love Sawyer!!! I even mentioned it a few times when we were pickig names. What about Chase? I think it's a strong name, sounds good with Wyatt and it begins with a "C".

    Yes

He's actually gone back on Colton. Apparently he doesn't like it anymore (indecisive much?)

I suggested Chase also and apparently he works with one so it's out, it's also out because it's 'too close' to Chance, which is what some people call him and his cousin, Chad when they get them confused lol.

We went through all of the names and on our list we've still got Marshall, Sawyer, Miles, Harrison and Grant. It's likely that this kid's name won't be decided until after he's born.

Thanks so much for the suggestions!
