85 degree bedroom=cranky toddler. advice please

so i had window ac units at my parents house since i moved out of our last apartment. our new house has no central a.c. so my parents are bringing them down tomorrow.

Milo could not sleep last night at all. like kept waking and crying so i am going to attempt to get him to sleep down in our living room since we have a new ac unit down here, tonight. but this is his playland. so wtf do i do!

he napped today downstairs because i snuggled him on the boppy and let him sleep on me.  but i am not sure how to get him to sleep at night with all his toys staring at him to play.

Re: 85 degree bedroom=cranky toddler. advice please

  • Do you have a pack n play or something similar that will keep him safe and secure in a boring yet cool place like the dining room? Can you pack up his toys in a laundry basket or something temporary for the night and move them out of sight so he's not so enticed? Or maybe buy/borrow a standing oscillating fan for his bedroom which provides a good deal of nice cool air for one night until the a/c comes to the rescue? OR...its a really perfect reason to "stay philly" at a local hotel if its really THAT bad.  ;P

  • We have an open floor plan. He is use to sleeping on a floor bed. So not sure how contained he will do! I mean no worst then wakingup upset because he is sweaty. Also we had THRee fans in his room.

Cool washcloths on the forehead and/or neck (but, with his age, is it a hazard?_. My mom used to do this when I was younger.
  • I think I would roll the dice with having him sleep in the AC with the toys versus having him cranky and miserable!

Are his toys in one centralized location where maybe you could put some sheets or drop cloths over them to hide them? Out of sight out of mind may work for him.
