P.O. Box on resume?

If you saw a PO Box on a resume, what would you think?

My husband and I are relocating to a city about 75 miles south of us.  We are conducting job searches now but won?t be able to physically move until August 1st.  We could easily commute by train for a few weeks after we get the job but before we move into our place.  (The timing is tricky as obviously we don't want to move before finding jobs as we may not find any, but we don't want to seem inaccessible or not considered if we are not in their city.)

DH thinks that having a local PO Box in the new city looks like we are connected to the city and are serious about relocating.  I think it looks a little flaky to have a PO Box and not a hard address.

Our cover letters clearly indicate we are in the process of relocating.  What would you do?

P.O. Box = flaky but local?

Hard address = steady but far away?

Thanks!!!

  • I'd go with the PO Box.

  • I don't actually put my full address on my resume anymore- instead I just use city and state.

  • Use a PO Box.

There could be many reasons for someone to use one. My friend lives in a condo and the box is so small that a thick/large envelope could easily get lost (stolen) or pinned to the board above the boxes.

  • P.O Box is totally fine!

I lived for 3 years in a town in Colorado where NOBODY had a mailbox because the mail carrier could not make it up most roads so everyone had a P.O Box and we used it as our address for everything including resumes.

Why would you think a P.O Box is "flakey"?
