Hanging in limbo after an interview...What would your next step be?

I hope you ladies don't mind me asking another question, you all were very helpful the last time I was in a jam :)

I had an interview on Thursday, May 17th, (it was a panel interview, consisting of 5 people from various depts that I would be working with).  While at the interview I was told I would hear from them in "about a week."  The HR lady I have been communicating with the most during this process called for my references on the following Tuesday and asked how I thought it went, what I thought about the commute, etc.  I emailed her my references that night.  As of today, I have not heard from them.

This is a position that became open due to the company needing more indivuals (not due to someone resigning or retiring) for the amount of work they have.

What would you do at this point?  I could always ask my references if they called them.

 Thanks again!

  • Yeah, I'd contact references

  • I agree.  I would ask around to the references and see if they've been called.

  • Thanks for the suggestion ladies, I really do appreciate it!  I spoke with one of my references today, and she talked with them yesterday.  So I guess the process just takes some time.  I've gotta learn to be patient.

Agreed...the process takes time and probably got delayed due to the Memorial Day holiday.  I mean, my office was dead last Friday because people took the day off and/or took off early, then we were off Monday.

  • I just started a new job and my reference check took about 3 weeks.  The waiting really sucks, I know.
