We're heading next week to stay on Gull Lake. Any suggestions on things to do in the area? Checked the weather and looks like it might be too cold to swim in the lake? So looking for alternatives to help keep us busy if this is indeed the case.
Re: Brainerd, MN?
Head down to Mall of America!
I'm very familier. Brainerd- or Nisswa, more specifically, is a lot of fun. Gull Lake is fabulous and yes, my son will be swimming in Gull this weekend (we're pretty tough..) It's warm in the shallower areas. Downtown Nisswa is quaint, shops, an A&W. Wednesdays they do Turtle Races which are extremely popular. Zorbaz is on Gull and a lot of fun (good bar food, drinks, music, beach volleyball). There's a new restaurant called Sherwood Forest Tavern that is on the Gull Lake Chain that is a must-see. There's Adventure MiniGolf off the highway leading up to Nisswa. Tons of golf courses ranging in prices from very cheap ($9 for 9 holes at WildWedge in Pequot) to $$ (arnold palmer designed courses and the like). Depending on the resort you're staying at, there will likely be activities going on. We always stay at Grand View Lodge- it's our favorite and always has tons of planned activities. Maddens and Craguns are the other big resorts that have a lot to offer. Breezy Point Resort north of Nisswa is also nice.
Brainerd is a typical town of 13K+, nothing super noteworthy.
