looking for really elegant recipies
Hi girls,
My great Aunt passed away last evening in Wisconsin. Being as though I'm currently the only relative in Ohio at the moment, I've been placed in charge of a lot of the arangements here. One of which is putting together a really nice hor dourve/cocktail hour (which, let's face it, I love doing anyway). It needs to be a really classy event, short of not being catered. Any ideas on nice hor dourves or finger desserts?
Thanks!
Re: looking for really elegant recipies
Sorry to hear about your great aunt.
how about mini quiche? little pinwheel wraps?
Those are the little things that come to mine but I'm not very fancy.

mini shrimp cocktails?
little crab cakes?
mini grilled shrimp or chicken skewers?
brushetta always looks fancy (to me at least, especially when displayed pretty)
cubed cheese tray with fruit?
there's this fancier way of displaying a veggie tray floating around pinterest - http://pinterest.com/pin/217158013251814654/
I would also suggest checking out a grocery store's deli prepared party tray book. We use Safeway for work events ALL THE TIME and everyone assumes it was a fancy catered meal. If nothing else, their book might give you some ideas for things you can do yourself. A sushi tray from a local restaurant might be nice depending on your crowd.
For dessert - tartlets? oreo truffles? cake balls (with more elegant decoration)?
Oh, Cole is full of good ideas there.
The only other suggestion I have is that Costco/BJs sell frozen appetizers (mini quiche, puff pastry stuff) and they're good. They're a heat and eat -- maybe a good supplement to some of your homemade stuff?
