It drives me up the wall when people don't rsvp, especially for events like showers where favors are involved.
DH's friends are the worst culprits. They always wait until like a day or two before the party to rsvp even though I can see that they've viewed the evite like every single day.
I know the crowd/crowds I'm dealing with and most of the time I already know who is/isn't coming. So its nice when people RSVP, but I try not to be too Emily Post-ish about it.
Other than my wedding, I can't really say its mattered much budget-wise if the numbers were different than expected.
I said that it makes me stabby. I was extremely happy when everyone RSVP to DS's birthday party. I have never had that happen before. People either told me in person or called.
I get insanely angry though when people RSVP to a wedding and do not show up. We had 10 people RSVP to ours and didn't show up. That was $50 a head and you screwed me.
