Hotels in the Burbs

Im planning a 30th birthday celebration for DH in July that will end in the Media area. Im looking for some kind of decent, respectable lodging nearby Media--any thoughts? I know I can get a hotel in downtown Philly, City Ave area, or King of Prussia, but I was hoping to find a place closer to Media if possible. Im open to B&Bs as well, but DH really is more of a hotel kind of guy.

Re: Hotels in the Burbs

  • The closest one I can think of is a Best Western (I think that's the chain) at Rt. 202 and Rt. 1 in Concordville.  Airport hotels are going to be your closest chain option to Media. There's the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, and I'm sure there has to be some out near Rt. 252 and Rt. 30 in the Paoli area.
  • One other thing: the two hotels that are near downtown Media (both on 252) are mostly Sec 8 housing, so you would probably want to avoid those.

yeah I knew about their reputation for both housing and hourly rentals. I just realized that Glen Mills /Concordville has some decent hotels so maybe Ill go that route. Its a nicer setting than the airport at least!

  • Yeah, there are definitely not a lot of hotels near Media.  The Concordville Inn is nice (the Best Western).  if you want the B&B route, I've heard good things about this place, but never stayed there myself.  http://www.alpenhofbedandbreakfast.com/

  • The Quality Inn is at 352 and Baltimore Pike (at the clover intersection by the mall).  Mixed reviews online, but I know friends of ours are using it for after their wedding reception.

  • I don't know if this is too far for you, but the Radnor Hotel is nice (bonus it has a pool).  It is right off the St. David's exit on the blue route, which is only 3 exits and maybe 8 miles from Media

  • I guess there is also the airport that is only like 10-15 minutes. Lots of hotels there.  When we went to a wedding in Media a few years ago they were all staying at Marriott Conshohocken afterwards.  Radnor Hotel is probably a good option as mentioned above.
