Poll: What are you reading?

What's everyone currently reading?

Now that I have found time to read again, I'm looking for suggestions.

Re: Poll: What are you reading?

  • I've been trying to finish Mockingjay for about 1 month now. It's just not holding my interest. I should just finish it up because I have other books waiting. I still need to get to part 3 of the Millenium series.
  • I'm reading In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin. It's really good so far. Before that I read the latest Sookie Stackhouse book Deadlocked and enjoyed it.
  • I finished the 3rd book of the Hunger Games last week and now I'm reading 50 Shades of Grey to see what all the fuss is about. Like LLHR said below, I don't see what the big deal is.

  • Finishing up Andy Cohen's book tonight, then starting The Pregnancy Pact.

  • I'm in between books. I finished Deadlocked last weekend and have Nora Roberts' The Witness waiting for me at home, plus a few library holds ready for pick-up. I'll start something this weekend.

  • I am slogging my way through the non-fiction tome "The Battle for Christmas" that details how our modern Christmas celebration came about, i.e. trees, time with family/friends, Santa Claus, day off from work, presents for kids, etc. It's an interesting but dense read.

I'm supposed to be reading "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman for book club next week. Ha! I've read it before though, and I plan to pick it up at some point before next Saturday.

  • I downloaded a bunch of cheapo books from Kindle last week, but I'm not really loving any of them so far.  I read "The Overnight Socialite' last week and it was pretty good.

I think I'll read the Andy Cohen book next - we'll see.

  • I just started Jen Lancaster's new book - Jeneration X.  Very entertaining so far.

  • Game 1 of the Game of Thrones set.  So far I love it and I am glad I watched the show to kind of picture those characters in the books.  Sometimes those names confused the heck out of me though :)

  • East of Eden by John Steinbeck
  • Agent X by Noah Boyd, just finished Full Black by Brad Thor

I have a hard enough time remembering who is who on the show. I think the books would confuse the heck out of me.

Don't get me wrong--it is confusing, but I have memorized the main characters (from watching the show a ridiculous amount of times) and take "notes" in my Nook about who they are on the show.  I guess that is the nerd part in me.

I just started Catching Fire last night. I read the Hunger Game in five days (which is good for me with two babies at home). I have two more weeks to finish these books up. I picked up another book that I had holding at the library.

I loved Hunger Games. Catching Fire was pretty good too. But Mockingjay...just can't.  I've heard bad reviews from a couple of people about the ending so I'm just not that into finishing it.

There is an appendix in the back of the book that lists all the houses and the characters and their relationships to each other. If you're reading on the Nook or Kindle, you may not realize it. I read the series in paperback and found that part of the book very helpful :)
