Super dry hair - URGGH

Hi All,

I have recently switched for the first time to sulfate free shampoos and my hair has been noticeably dry and coarse after every wash.

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Granted my hair is highlighted and wavy ( read frizzy) but still - its a marked difference and makes me want to switch back !

Thanks:)

  • You should try deep conditioning a couple times a week. I love aussie's 3 minute miracle. Sulfate free will actually help keep your hair color, but it can be drying. I would also use a leave in conditioner, it will help control frizz.

I haven't had any dryness issues while using sulfate free shampoo.

Originally, I was using some higher-end brand sold by my salon, but I've since switched to the L'Oreal EverStrong line.

And a weekly deep conditioning treatment is a good idea, as suggest by a previous poster.

  • Use a little Moroccan Oil or other leave-in serum. Try not to wash your hair everyday. I also recommend using a boar bristle hairbrush because it helps your hair's own natural oil travel from scalp through the hair cuticle.

There are also shower head filters that you can buy to help remove the impurities from your water that can dry out your hair and skin.

  • As pp said, try some Moroccan Oil, on it's own and also in shampoo/conditioner.
